Overnight in Chennai
Hi,
I am flying next week from Frankfurt to Chennai (LH) and from there on a separate ticket (Air India) to port Blair. We are scheduled to land at 11:50 PM in Chennai (international terminal) and leave at 5 am (domestic terminal).
I think that heading to a nearby hotel might be a waste of time and looked online for a lounge or anyway a decent solution to spend a few hours between the two flights.
I found a few treads

but it is not very clear to me which place is open during the whole night and which lounge can I reach arriving at international terminal and leaving from domestic one.
I am flying economy but I would be happy to pay for getting some decent, although short, rest.
Is there somebody who has recent information and could shed some light on the issue?
Thank you
Luca

Honestly MAA is one of the worst airports for a layover.
International Terminal and Domestic Terminal are not very well connected, the only way to transfer from one terminal to the other is outside of the terminals by a trolley cart (might not be running that late) or on foot.
Secondly they may only let you enter the terminal when the CheckIn of your respective flights opens (Foreigners sometimes have an advantage). There is no decent place in the check-in hall to wait a few hours.

I had a similar situation last year, and would agree with the other people here. Very difficult airport for this, the international terminal is quite dirty and no where to get rest even if you could stay there. Probably not able to get into domestic terminal.
We ended up getting a room at a local hotel, they came and picked us up and dropped us back off. We were only there for about 3 hours or so, but got a shower in and a little bit of shut eye.
Can't remember the hotel name, but there are several close.

I have a similar situation coming up... a very long layover at MAA, mid-day to early AM. I was thinking of getting a room since we have a pretty heavy travel day ahead.
I'm weighing the Radisson Blu near the airport or the Trident. Does anyone have any recommendations between the two?
Also if anyone knows whether food would be included if we were club level at either and if such a loung would be open on a Sunday?
