Honestly MAA is one of the worst airports for a layover.

International Terminal and Domestic Terminal are not very well connected, the only way to transfer from one terminal to the other is outside of the terminals by a trolley cart (might not be running that late) or on foot.
Secondly they may only let you enter the terminal when the CheckIn of your respective flights opens (Foreigners sometimes have an advantage). There is no decent place in the check-in hall to wait a few hours.
