load factor - best Y seat

I am considering trying out Jet Airways BRU-NYC route in april, and I have a few questions.

1. Which aircraft is the newest (and offers best seats in Y) 777 og 330?
2. Any idea on which load is lowest - the flight to JFK or EWR - I wouldn't mind a quiet flight.
3. Can Flying blue miles be used to upgrade flights?

Thanks for any other advice for a passenger in Y.

It depends - Jet has had the A330's working for some time, but may have inducted some new ones, due to having more international routes being served by A332's.

However, all 77w's have been recently acquired - within the past 8-9 months, I think...

No idea - maybe someone else who flies Jet internationally can advise.

Probably not - one has to use *5* Jet upgrade coupons per sector to upgrade from Y to J, and *7* to do J to F!

You might be able to do a full mileage booking using FB miles into J - that I know an FT'er has done for a domestic/CMB trip recently...

All the New York flights (EWR/JFK) are on the 777 which are anywhere from 10 months to a month old.

Well, I'll be flying on 9w in Y on the A332 in a few days, and I'll report back on comfort levels...

Y on the 737's really, really *sucked* big-time, but hopefully this is better...

I'm a bit scared of service levels as well, as the SQ flights are sold out right now, while the 9w seats are *widely* available...

We almost went with SQ, as 9w was really messing up big-time, but then went through with the 9w bookings...

I believe the 777s have better seats in Y. Haven't done long haul in Y yet.

Usually JFK is fuller (because connections to other cities). EWR is more available.

I don't think JetPrivileges has mileage based upgrade awards. Elite pax get upgrade vouchers based on miles traveled or charges made to cobranded credit card. There are biz class awards based on mileage.

Thanks for any other advice for a passenger in Y.

I just returned on 2 segments on 9w's A332's in Y, and have this to report:

1. Aircraft very new, therefore very nice environment to fly in.

2. Seats very comfortable, probably similar to SQ's 77w Y seats.

3. FA's have no concept of customer service, as they are so stunned (or too haughty) by being allowed to fly abroad.

4. Meals really suck, as compared to SQ - food is *worse* than domestic 9w!

Anyway, anything further is a subject for a trip report - will do that later, but to address the OP's request for the best seats on the A332 - this would be Row 25 (I think, as I wasn't in them), where the EE is located.

There, you would get excellent legroom on both the port and starboard sides of the row, with the most legroom in Y.

Config in Y is 2 -4 - 2, with the rear reducing to 3 in the center section.

Edited to Add: Oh yes, while these sectors I flew to SIN were wide-open, SQ was filling their 777's....they had a *lower* web price than 9w's, but I had to use some of my 9w miles before they expired...

Night flight out had a good C load, but the return was *very* light (maybe 3 C pax?)

I gather biz pax are using the 9w lie-flat seats as a temporary measure to fly one-way on 9w, back on SQ, until SQ gets their 77w's rotating into BOM! (and/or other Indian cities)
