Yep, I don't think this is over yet. Though if I don't receive it in the time frame and after a couple follow ups I'll just do a partial charge back to cover the amount

So I booked them the airside hotel - obviously far cheaper hotels outside the airport but apparently they weren't allowed to leave...
Good for you. I'm sure the money will come but you may have to remind them a few times.

Just an update. No refund came through and I chased Air India.

They say it was refused as no authorisation letter was sent. I've now sent the authorisation letter and they claim I will have the money in 7 working days.
