JetPrivilege Partner Redemptions
Hi,
I was checking the JPmiles required for redemption on partner airlines, I noticed that the miles required for several sectors are much lesser than those required for redemption on Jet Airways.
I am aware that partner airlines charge taxes and fees additionally but I was wondering whether the difference in miles is worth paying these charges.
Has anyone ever redeemed JPMiles on a partner airline ex-India? If so then approximately how much is typically charged in addition to the miles and is it worth it?
For example BOM-EWR economy on 9W is 75000 miles whereas on UA it is 55000 miles.
This is my first post on FlyerTalk, thanks in advance for your responses.

welcome to ft bigapple07....its always a good idea to search for similar threads before posting a new one....there are quite a few which deal with jet partner redemptions....

all these threads have a lot of good information that you can go through....
also, in the past, jet did not allow partner redemption on the same route they flew as well....not sure if this is still the case but if it is then they will not allow you to redeem jp miles on bom-ewr with a partner as they fly that route themselves....

One more example is BLR-AUH.
Side Note : I wonder if 9W charges fuel surcharges on partner redemptions to Hong Kong (Cathay Pacific)

Thanks a lot Keyser for your reply. I went through the threads you mentioned, however I was hoping to get an idea of how much YQ is actually charged from someone who has made a redemption recently through JP.
With regards to redemption on routes which 9W operates, you're right. The new JetPrivilege site has a tool for determining the miles required for partner redemptions, I found that one cannot search for partner redemption mile requirements for a route which 9W also operates, e.g. if one selects Emirates then the BOM won't appear in the dropdown menu for selecting. the Origin airport, same is the case for Virgin as well. I assume this means that you can't book partner awards on routes also operated by 9W as you said, however for UA the tool was allowing me to search for BOM-EWR.

I believe this might be due to the fact that the BOM-CDG 0220 departure is a codeshare between AF & 9W operated by AF.
Jet does allow you to redeem jp miles on partner airlines even if jet flies the same route. For example BOM-CDG can be redeemed for Air France and Jet Airways (42500 miles for economy). It does not charge YQ on Air France for this route.
One more example is BLR-AUH.
