I love Blaise Mautin.
Especially the Paris-Vendôme fragrance. It's so special and super sophisticated, bought the Interior Spray as well as some toiletries and candles. I'm so happy they use it even in the air conditioning and you can smell it when you come in and wherever you are.

I love that aroma. (Of course, I also loved the aroma of the paper when the teacher passed out a freshly mimeographed test in grade school. I remember that the first thing everybody would do is smell it. )

  • PH Milan - Laura Tonnatto - I love it, but I do consider it a bit feminine. Since I'm a girl, that works, and it is my favorite.
  • PH Buenos Aires - has its own product. I've forgotten the brand; wasn't taken with it.
  • PH Chicago - Davies Gate, not custom - products based on different grains - not fond of it
  • PH Sydney switched to Aesop from Vive - Sweet Fig & Olive
  • PH Tokyo uses Aesop - unamed with a citrusy scent
  • PH Seoul - Aesop
FWIW, PH Beaver Creek has toiletries branded & scented from their spa. It smelled pretty good, but I don't have a good a nose for scents as everybody else here does so I'm not gonna try to describe it.

Of the Blaise Moutin scents I've tried (only 3 now - DC/Vendome/Zurich), I like Vendome's scent the most. And did I get a bad bottle of B.M. conditioner at PH Zurich or is the conditioner there almost like shampoo? I'm using one right now in my shower at home that I dug out of some old travel bag. It's fully see-through/clear (unlike normal conditioner) and seems more like shampoo to me than conditioner.....................?

Yup, the conditioner confuses me. I'm used to a more creamy conditioner. I don't use conditioner on a regular basis, but since I am absolutely over the top in love with the PHV scent, I take it anyways and mix it with the shampoo.

I noticed BM changed his conditioner formula in PH Vendome after few years of the more liquid conditioner. It is now creamier than the old version.

However, when I went to Dubai and Moscow late last year, both PHs still use the old version's conditioner.

Agreed. I too find the scent disappointing....

Park Hyatt Saigon uses www.comfortzone.it. It's an unfamiliar brand to me, and didn't give me any sense of luxury - though given that they import it from Italy, it likely is meant to do so.

PH Bs As

FWIW, and a slight divergence, I thought the shampoo at the Palacio Duhau was a bit strange formulation. (Yes, I'm sure the right stuff was in the right bottles.) After using it, my skin shed water like a waxed car -- it was oily. Washed that off with soap, and the shampoo cleaned as much as most, afterall. But glad I always bring along a couple of 3oz. containers of Pantene shampoo to really do the job when I run into a hotel one that doesn't. Note, as others have, that it's not Blaise Mautin. Wish I could remember the name. As SanDiego1K commented, "wasn't taken with it", at all, so it wasn't taken with...

Quick data point:
Check in at the Park Hyatt Chicago this past week (non-suite) and my bathroom was stocked with Blaise Mautin toiletries. The label on the bottom stated Nord Amerique fragrance. It was identical to the stock in the PH Washington DC.

Is this a fluke, or an adios to Davies Gate?

I've got to add that while the scents may be intoxicating, the hair conditioner does not condition and the hand lotion does not provide lasting skin hydration. Using these products during the dry winters is particularly unsatisfying. I'd prefer to have products which actually work, thank you. (I'll never understand how a clear hair conditioner could ever be expected to condition.)

I noticed that during my stay three weeks ago. Davies Gate was in the gym, though I didn't get a chance to use it.

This will be very good news if indeed a permanent change. It will give me yet another reason to return to the Chicago PH. The grain Davies Gate amenities do nothing for me.

I finally tried the stuff in Zurich a few weeks ago. Pleasant scent, but the conditioner… it is like sludge… sort of like an orange and celery smoothie in a bottle… seriously feel like I need to wash my hair again after using it. I’m going to blow most of my GP points and stay at the Park Hyatt in Paris in April… so I’ll give it another chance.

Update: Stayed at the Park Hyatt Paris for 4 nights April 22nd 2009. I did find the scent pleasant. It is unusual, so I will give it some more points for that. However, can’t really say the stuff performs very well. Conditioner is odd just as it was in Zurich. Instantly soaks into your hair and becomes… difficult to explain… how I might imagine vinegar to feel if I poured that in my hair. My wife also liked the scent, but refused to use the conditioner again after one try.

Celedonio is the brand. And I agree, the shampoo is not that great.

Another reason besides the lovely people who live nearby, you mean?
