The Property is The Talbott Chicago.

And from what you describe of the snacks available I would not consider it a very acceptable resolution. Hopefully the "beverages" available included juices.

It is not something that would make me switch from an agent with whom I was otherwise satisfied, nor it is something that would prevent me from returning to a property that I otherwise really liked, but it is nevertheless extremely disappointing.
About 1 Coffee, which comes in handy because the rooms have no coffee makers. Juices there is Orange and Cranberry.

I thought our agent did a good job and definitely appreciate her responsiveness, to each their own. The property’s end is a bit disappointing but based on the below poster’s pictures of restaurant breakfast we would love to come back and try it.

Hmm...

Our experience was -

Globalist Status recognized at check in (they now have a WOH desk, though it’s not being used due to low occupancy). Likely was recognized pre-check in as we were confirmed into a Junior Suite weeks ahead.

The snack bar is pretty small so that being our only breakfast option is tough, and it being downtown Chicago a breakfast at a restaurant would likely cost us $40 daily.

The Junior Suite we received looks about identical to the picture of your room, we have a couch instead of the two chairs but it’s not very comfortable. Our tub is a bit bigger and it also had a small shower, other than that size appears the same.

Your Breakfast looks pretty great though! We typically stay at HC Magnificent Mile which has a good breakfast and a pool. If the rates are comparable I’d take them, but if there’s a drastic difference as there was with this stay I’d give The Talbott another try.

We didn’t have a chance to ask as they were slid under our door after check in.

Thoughts on this?
Since five isn't a multiple of three, this only makes sense if you get five per day, presumably for two adults (two each) and one child (one coupon).

It sounds like a poor breakfast for any hotel good enough to get into Virtuoso and would be well below what a Prive/Virtuoso hotel would be likely to charge for a reasonable restaurant or room service breakfast.

ADDED: I don't consider a junior suite in an empty hotel to be a good Glob upgrade. In fact, I wonder why this hotel is allowed to continue as a Prive/Virtuoso property given how they're handling breakfast. What Hyatt brand is it supposed to be?

My thoughts exactly in regards to the (5) quantity given. Which is why I reached out to double check if more would be provided each day or what the situation would be.

The brand is Joie De Vivre, and a Junior Suite is actually the highest suite they have available. Though based on research they have (2) types of Junior Suites A) 350 sq. ft. Junior Suite and B) 475 sq. ft Junior Suite. I believe we were given the 350 sq. ft. Junior Suite. Based on what we’ve seen I’d estimate 15-25 rooms are occupied out of the 178 in total they have.

As far as staying in Prive’ it looks like a boutique hotel and I’m guessing it’s much better when the restaurant is open.

I’ll let you know if there’s any billing issues like the above poster had though, I’m hoping not as we’d like to come back.

This hotel is not a Virtuoso property, it is part of Hyatt Privé and is part of the Joie de Vivre brand.

We’ve had issues with our clients stays here in the past, however after a call with the sales manager and general manager, things have been much better and we negotiated a different resolution for our most recent clients who stayed there since they are not offering breakfast.

Can I ask what resolution? Without divulging any other information. ($ off their base rate on folio is about all I can think of other than what we received).

If not I can respect that. I feel our resolution isn’t the best, but it’s acceptable considering what’s going on these days.

a $5 Starbucks GC/day + mini bar is a shame. Sounds like something IHG would offer, not something I would expect from Hyatt

I stayed with IHG for many years as an Elite and only became a Globalist last year so I was getting used to the Free Breakfast/Lounge Access when Covid hit. I guess had I been a Prive’ Client or Globalist for years prior I may have been more disappointed.

Hyatt is the hands down the best program. I’m a IHG spire and Titanium Marriott and I have no plans of booking any paid stays with them. I’ll probably convert my Marriott points to Alaska miles. I still have roughly 300k IHG points, which will come useful for HIX stays during road trips

The Prive 3rd night free promo provides great value

Oh yeah, I’ve hit Hilton Diamond, IHG Spire and by far enjoy Hyatt much more which is why we moved our stays to Hyatt.

The 3rd Night Free is great, I just wish all Prive’ properties participated. A lot of them aren’t participating and even less are now than were when the offer began. It’s a great offer still and we’ve booked probably 5 stays through early next year using the offer that we wouldn’t have decided on those trips without it so it gave us that extra push.

Same here. 2 of the better Korean properties aren't participating.

Just spent 3 nights at the PH SYD in the Rooftop Suite. Needless to say the free night saved thousands of dollars on what is the second best suite in town, after their Sydney Suite.

That’s in addition to the discounted room rates atm.

HR Huntington Beach 3rd night free and Prive?

I am looking to book the HR Huntington Beach for the holidays. Wiki says they have a 3rd night free promo, but my agent says the hotel isn’t allowing it to be combined with Prive benefits. Is the hotel not doing that promo with Prive benefits for the holidays?

The third night free offer is subject to availability and blackout dates. The holidays are blacked out from the promotion at most participating properties.

Odd as I didn’t know that we booked over Valentine’s guess that’s not a major holiday.
