OK, it feels insane, but I've modified my Holiday plans to arrive a couple days earlier at the Hyatt and check out on the 31st and go to a resort in another chain. The path of least resistance!

Or you can wake up on jan 1 with multiple nights credited to 2020... a bit odd admittedly but evens out overall..
How do other chains handle that?

Does anyone know where these rules are cited? I couldn’t find it here: https://help.hyatt.com/en/faqs/world-of-hyatt/general-world-of-hyatt-program.html

Yeah, I guess it's nice if you've already met the 2019 qualifications, but if I were to guess, the current practice makes far more people unhappy than happy, since more people are going to be "counting nights" at the end of the year than at the beginning.

A quick read through some of the most recent posts now has me confused and worried about a stay I have in December where I check out on the 31st. That stay will put me over the edge for gaining Explorist. Will checking out in the 31st mean the nights will credit to 2019 and nail down Explorist status, or am I stuffed?

Thanks all!

If you check out in 2019, it'll count towards 2019.

I have to look at this carefully. I am already Globalist, but with the multiple stacking HP promos running now (1000 per night as Globalist at 70/80/90/100, credit card offers, buy Hyatt GCs with fuel rewards at certain supermarkets, triple points, etc.) , if they are extended and they span over 1/1/20, one could get a huge leg up on 2020 for very little money, especially on a deductible business trip.

Chicagoland is blessed with a bunch of cheap cat 1s that often go around $70. Especially in the winter. Happy to hear of others if you have a recommendation.

How are you going to stack everything you're talking about stacking for this mattress run over new year's? The triple points promo ends Dec 15, and if your stay is to get a leg up on 2020, you have to check out after 1/1. Also, the 1000 pts per night for 70/80/90/100 would be if you wanted those nights for 2019. For 2020, you'd be starting at 0, so no milestones to get to.

Yeah, not all of this us going to stack. Just spitballing.

I know about Dec 15; that’s why I said “if .”
