If I could easily hit 100 Hyatt nights in a year, I would be fine with it too. However, I travel 100% for leisure and spend about 60 nights total in hotels per year. Given Hyatt's limited footprint, I can't possibly consider staying 1/6th of my life in Hyatts alone.

Not for everyone. For example, those with 10 one-night HR stays got a bonus of 1K x 10 = 10K, so that's a wash. I always chose the food and wine amenities, so that was way more valuable.

I don't know many people who get to 70 stays 1 night at a time. I'm sure they're out there, just haven't ever met one myself.

I will agree that I am sad about the food and wine welcome amenity going away. However, Hyatt's amenities were always significantly better than anything I received at SPG/HH. Maybe with all of the negative attention, that's something that might come back @:-).

So I am waiting to hear from them.
I filled out the survey after my stay at the GH Kauai and marked them down for Food and Beverage and WoH. I got an email from the F&B Assistant Director as well as a "World of Hyatt Specialist" from Omaha. I sent them a fairly long email explaining how being a Globalist (also hate the name) really didn't do much to enhance my experience beyond what I could pay for. They used to provide a cabana rental, but with the removal of the amenity, that went away as did the apparent incentive for any hotel to go above and beyond for their most loyal guest.

I would really like to follow up with some of what has been stated here for HH and HP as well. With that being the largest part of their global footprint, Globalists receive basically nothing. No upgrades, no amenity, etc. They get free water which is a net cost of probably 20 cents to the hotel. Just a big middle finger to what is supposedly their top tier. The 500 points wasn't much, but it was something.

As everyone here knows I was a huge supporter of Hyatt and was at that time ok with the new program, however, after two months into this damn mess I walk away from the front desk after checking in wondering why am I staying here? I am waiting for Hyatt to call as they promised and will fill everyone in.
500 pts. I agree it wasn't much but at least it was there.

Room upgrades BS

But only 0.5 stays (or was it nights) so it's really just weeding out the weak... right?

Totally agree.

Since the inception - I've not got upgraded once... unless you count the other day when the front desk said "we upgraded you from the double to a king." *sigh*

bulls* benefit.

Well put.

The free bottle of water amenity is so tacky it is actually insulting. Then you get to the room and find the two bottles of water, each with a tag saying it will be $3.00.

I was at 33 nights by early March, mostly because of a five-week Asia trip that was all at Hyatts except in places that don't have them (Agra, Jaipur, Penang). I'm now on a somewhat shorter trip and will reach 48 nights by May 20. So I should not have any trouble reaching 60 this year.

In most of the places to which I travel frequently, my favorite hotel is a Hyatt. That made it easy to reach 40 to 50 nights (topping up 5 to 10 nights if necessary by spending on the Hyatt Visa card). And since I usually spend 70+ nights per year in hotels, I was still free to stay at non-Hyatts whenever I liked. The hard 60-night threshold takes away a lot of that flexibility. For instance, I recently spent two nights at the nothing-special Hyatt Centric French Quarter when I could have gotten the spectacular Roosevelt (currently a Waldorf-Astoria hotel) half a block away for about the same price. And I'm now at the Grand Hyatt Singapore, a wonderful hotel but in some ways not quite as desirable as the Conrad Centennial. So I don't know whether keeping Globalist status will be worth it in the long run, but I'll give it another year.

28 nights to date - a few upgrades to suites to date. However, these upgrades were occurring at these same hotels pre-Glob. Thus, push so far in that category, but really miss the welcome amenity. Keeping Glob one more year to see if it gets better in 2018 with the reduction in Globs.

I have also been focusing stays at SPG/MARRIOTT to maintain my PLAT status and 9th year in a row. Unfortunately, I have a sneaking suspicion that the merger/change in the SPG program is going to put LT PLAT out of reach for me with only 1 year to go. Time will tell.

2017 - mass exodus of Hyatt Diamond folks to SPG/Marriott to get SPG PLAT
2018 - mass exodus of SPG PLAT folks to ???? (TBD)

Possibly but there's also a good chance that they won't have a combined program until 2019. If that's the case, you should be good!

16nights in as of 01May, almost all at Regency lvl hotels.
60 nights, 12mths, need to track 5nights/month, so not on track to hit 60nights by EOY.

That said, I also have not seen much special roomwise from "Globalist". Have seen the free water, free WiFi, and a nice $26/day comp on F&B at a recent stay at Hyatt on Olive in Seattle (*great* hotel btw), but very little in the way of room upgrades.

IHG and SPG, where I have equiv status, very aggressively upgrade on almost every stay.
Plus the IHG Accelerate programme is a great incentive, am not sure I'll hit that 60 with Hyatt.

25 stay SPG Plats may have a hard time finding a new top tier home.

Though Marriott Plat is easier than 75 nights sounds, since award stays count and you can rack up lots of night credits (15 + 1 for every $3K in spend) using the Chase card.

I am with many ppl, am going to stick it out one year and see if it gets better but the downhill slide is not promising. I actually got upgraded to suites more BEFORE WoH. Go figure.

Am at 34 now...should be at 40 by the end of next month.

30 stay Hilton Diamond.

As far as Marriott, one only needs 50 nights (Gold) to get 99.9% of top tier benefits. And that 50 nights can be reduced very easily with the Marriott CC or 'meetings'.
