Are cribs guaranteed if requested?

Was wondering what the policy was on cribs. I booked a room a few weeks out and requested a crib in my reservation. When we checked in with our 8 month old, we were told they ran out of cribs a few hours before. We were obviously not too happy with the situation since we had expected a crib to have been reserved. They told us they would call us in the room and let us know if they could come up with anything. Fortunately they made it right and sent someone out to buy a pack and play.

I was wondering if there was any firm policy if the hotel runs out of cribs; are we expected to bring our own pack and play or go out and buy one? Or is it a given/policy that we will in some way be accommodated?

I've had no problem getting a crib on request.

I would just indicate on the reservation a crib is needed in the room. Unless the hotel has run out of cribs, you'll receive on in the room.. no charge.

If you arrive and there is no crib.. simply contact housekeeping and one will be brought up to your room.

My question is what happens when they run out of cribs. Hate lugging around a pack n play but don't want to get stuck with no where for him to sleep either.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I would say 97% of the hotels I've travelled have never had a problem finding a crib for an elite member. In fact, I think it was in Europe they had problems, and it was in a apartment style accommodation at that. They charged me 30 pounds to deliver a crib.. but in the end comped me, because I had requested it and it wasn't delivered.

You're Hyatt Diamond, so request one, and if they have to bump someone else to get your crib, they'll bump someone else to get your crib.

You could talk to the front desk ahead of your arrival to ensure that the crib is guaranteed. If they don't deliver, then there'll be reason for explanation and service follow up.

Not guaranteed if simply requested. I always email the property to reenforce and have an email confirmation.

Depends. Is the occupant of the crib a Diamond?

The hotel didn't have any other cribs? I thought about buying a pack and play and lugging it around, but I have enough problems with car seats transferring between airport and rental car. Gotta keep mobile so I depend on the hotel to have safe cribs.

In fact, if you ask parents, the answer is likely priceless.

We have baby twins, so we needed 2, they brought another broken one. At that point, I really didn't trust them and just bought my own. 59.00 at Walmart. I left it in the room as I didn't wanna haul it with.

This was the first time though. I have always recieved cribs or pack and plays with no issue. Some of the nicer hotels have provided toys and soaps for the babies. Nice touch.

Manchester San Diego, the best ever! Fantastic service to detail!!

Always confirm that what you've requested is actually available. Forget emails because your kid can't sleep in a print out which says you should have one. Call, speak to a real person, get their name and they will most often make sure it happens.

In about 40-50 checkins over 3 yrs with our twins we never experienced any issues with cribs so problems are probably uncommon (well I never really checked for any unobvious damage). We do stay mostly in full service properties.

Cribs are assumed to be in the room upon arrival..

It's the baby packages that are a nice touch which my wife hopes to receive each time but often is not available on arrival. I think we received baby packages at GHK and HR Maui. My wife sometimes asks me to request special baby packages from the front desk, which sometimes come with a stuff animal. Hit and miss on request. Absolutely appreciated if its there upon arrival.

I've never had a request for a crib denied. This has been over multiple hotel stays. Do be aware however, that the cleanliness may not be up to your expectations.

This is one more reason I have cut down significantly on my travel in the last few years - I have a 3 year old and a 1 month old.
