Nope, they are being good and you can still make award booking until Feb for the chart (you get a refund for the properties that have gone down).

No brainer for me, when in Tokyo, for that kinda point use, I'd stay at the PH every time.

I used to think the same. But I've redeemed a couple of award nights at the GHT.

Walked away with 8K more points in my pocket at the end of it.

Award Chart Update Effective February 7, 2013

Dear FlyerTalk community,

As you begin planning your award travel for the new year, we wanted to inform you of upcoming changes to the Hyatt Gold Passport Award Chart. Effective February 7, 2013, 10 hotels will move to a lower category and seven hotels will move to a higher category. Through February 6, 2013, all award bookings can be made following the current Award Chart.

Rest assured, we will continue to make free night redemption as easy as possible with no blackout dates. If we have a standard room available at any Hyatt hotel on any day of the year, you're more than welcome to reserve it with your Hyatt Gold Passport points.

For a full list of hotels impacted and for answers to frequently asked questions about these Award Chart changes, please visit Hyatt.com.

Safe travels,

Hyatt Gold Passport Customer Service

If the list is only 10 down and 7 up, why not post the list of changes here for convenience?

I'd say this is a lot better than expected. A very modest devaluation IME. Probably because there aren't too many top properties left that can be moved to higher categories.

Obviously I would have prefered no change, but ceteris paribus, I agree entirely with you. It certainly doesn't appear too bad at all. The only one that would personally affect me a lot is 48Lex going up.
