Sad Hyatt Gold Passport member here.

Data point: Diamond for the last few years, Hyatt credit card holder, UA Premier Gold member (rarely 1K in the past), have credited Hyatt stay to UA miles during various Hyatt promos but not since 2010. On the other hand, my Private Line agent has assured me that she doesn't need me to send her my other program numbers when I want to fix a stay that should have been credited to an airline program but the hotel mistakenly credited as Gold Passport points. My guess is that even though my profile doesn't let me enter other programs' numbers, Gold Passport computers cache the most recently used numbers.

Congrats to those that received this.

Boo to Hyatt for not having some type of criteria and then gifting EVERYONE who qualified.

Wow. . after spending 190 nights at Hyatt (and NOT $50 per night) stays this year you would think I would have qualified for something. I agree with others - it would have been nice if all Diamond members who have shown their loyalty would have received this. Congrats to those who did - very nice of Hyatt to have extended this to some.

No email... didn't expect one. But I do know someone who received the 'gift' who has only been Diamond since last fall and has only stayed about 25 nights since then.

Ah well.....

According to @HyattPR on twitter:

"It's very small group of our most loyal Diamond members, selected with the help of United."

Obviously their definition of most loyal is a crock

Hyatt may have gotten help from United with awarding the points into Mileage Plus to their "best" clients but they would need no help awarding points into their own program aka Gold Passport for the rest of their best clients. Hyatt has to have known they would get serious blow back when this became public.

Unclear. Reading the comments here and on various blogs, a nontrivial chunk of people (who did not receive an airdrop of miles) seem to think highly of this promotion and see this as a reason for continued loyalty.

I may continue to stay in Hyatts because I like the hotels and enjoy having Diamond status. I'm not going to be loyal to the brand because I think my GP account might be a lucky lottery ticket some day .

I am seriously wondering these days if Hyatt just doesn't care anymore about providing good customers with service, bonuses, etc. Over the last 18 months it does appear that they continue to erode what used to be reasons for remaining loyal to Hyatt. Seems a bit strange. And I agree - these days nothing remains private (or rather, VERY little).

I''m sure it has nothing to do with crediting stays to UA.

It's a targeted bonus .. they aren't going to tell you what the criteria was.

No matter your circumstance or status awarding 50,000 UA MP points is meaningful.
