Gah! Wth! Got this email thinking it was for an upcoming HR fishermans wharf stay (which is evidently now Hyatt Centric) ... had a reservation booked for NYE, was looking forward to that view. Pointless now.

Booked a room for 4 pax in Nov. Anyone has any experience with a diamond upgrade? Tried applying DSU - HC said balcony suites can't accommodate 4 adults.

Ive used one there a couple of times and always got a bigger room with a sitting area which only had 1 bed... so 4 people would be tough jamming on a King bed unless you're "friendly." Not sure they have an option for 2 queens in an upgraded low level suite.

Concur with this. King bed and a couch. Somebody would be sleeping on the floor. There might be a single suite in the hotel that can accomodate 4 (one of their luxury suites).. but even then not sure if its two beds or a bed and large couch. The version of luxury suite Ive been in had king bed and large couch.

I had a king suite and they were able to supply us a complimentary rollaway for our son. Not sure if they would be able to provide you with 2 rollaway beds, but worth asking.

Stayed here recently Fri into Sat. Rates vary wildly here and at the Grand Hyatt depending on occupancy and demand. This property is convenient to the piers and right across from pier 1 with a playground and numerous shops close by.

A few other observations :

There is a pull in drop off/valet parking area in front of the hotel. Valet parking is pricey at $69/night with in out privileges. Secure self parking is available very close by across the street at 3 Embarcadero for $34/24 hrs. Make a right out of the hotel, through one traffic signal a block and the garage is across the street.

Check in was straight forward on the second level. Diamond recognition pretty much non existent other than club access.

The Regency Club is on the top floor and offers fantastic 360 degree views of the area. Access is via key card in the elevator and then sign in is required for entry. The evening hors d'oeuvres offering was impressive with a wide variety of warm and cold dishes. Alcoholic beverages were offered for purchase on the honor system. Breakfast is standard continental fare including a warm dish, charcuterie, cheese, fruit, pastries and smoked salmon. Unfortunately there is still scaffolding obstructing the view in some parts. Computers, games and massage chairs are a nice touch.

Hotel lobby is expansive and nicely appointed with plenty of seating and an open area bar with multiple flat screens.

Rooms are pretty standard and moderately soundproofed. Housekeeping could use some improvement. Some floors are equipped with multiple stage filtered reverse osmosis chilled water dispensers.

Club view of the bay bridge :

I got the same email and am happy with a buffet breakfast in the restaurant. Has anyone confirmed that 2500 points will be offered due to the club closure? OR is it speculation? There was no mention in the email notification.

Oh that's good news, the club needs a refresh and don't mind getting that 2,500 point bonus!

There goes one of my favorite reasons for staying there. Losing the evening service takes a lot of value out of a stay. At least there should be bonus diamond points.

DSU appears to confirm into a Balcony Suite - this has a separate bedroom correct? (but no pullout in the living area)

The property's website shows it has a separate bedroom and parlor. While it doesn't indicate that it has a sofa bed, it does say that rollaways are available.

This is what is confusing-dsu is supposed to confirm into a balcony suite, which has a separate bedroom. But others have reported dsu as Studio suite (large room with king bed) which doesn't have a door between the bed and living area.

It will all depend upon what his confirmation says. If it doesn't say, call and ask for a printed confirmation with suite type specified. Frequently it shows this in the "cancellation policy" section of the confirmation.

Balcony suite is the typical upgrade given with DSU. This has a seperate bedroom with door. The Bay View Studio Suite (formerly the Embarcadero Suite), does not have a seperate room.
