actually - they meet you as you deplane and walk you to the immigration... drop you off in the line & meet you again at the baggage claim.

I don't know what there is for kids to do per se, and I have my doubts. I would say the Star Ferry and harbour cruises - looking at the boats and buildings. The ferry is right close to the hotel and the harbour cruises are right by where the ferry ties up on the other side. But if you're just coming off the Macau ferry it might be just more of the same for an 8 and a 6. Harbour walks along the promenades on the near or far side of the harbour (Star Ferry in between)? They might like the subway - depending on whether public transportation is a factor in your usual lives. Last, if your time/sleep zone is off, then the Night Markets have some fascinating critters - shellfish - in tubs. And I saw an absolutely beautiful parade-type dragon going through at one point looking for a parade. But this isn't right by the hotel ... Just following the idea of what might be fun and different for kids if there isn't much right by the hotel.

Is there a schedule for the final completion of renovations? I noticed that the Grand Club is scheduled to reopen in September, but looking at a booking for next spring I cannot see availability for an standard rooms. Does that mean that the renovation of standard rooms will continue well into 2016?
I was hoping to book a standard room at an AARP rate (which used to over a good discount) and use a DSU to upgrade to a suite, but with the absence of standard rooms, they are only offering the AARP rate on Club Rooms, so it looks like my next best option is to try for a P&C rate.

Is it possible they haven't loaded rates yet? Why not contact the hotel directly and ask. Sometimes these mistakes are literally the wrong keystroke when entering inventory.

The delightful gentleman in the Grand Club, I forget his name, said it was scheduled to be completed in October.

In fact, is it possible that they have done away with the "Standard" rooms? They are still in the room description on the hotel's website, but I checked more than 20 random dates over the coming year and not once is there availability for any of the 4 standard room types they list.
Well, I'll see if an email garners some info.

Upthread a couple of recent posters say they were confirmed into a Grand Suite, and appears that they have all been renovated. I've read well back into the thread and some were saying they were getting the non-renovated Grand Harbour View Suite for a while.

They put me into a non-club floor suite once and I (hotel snob that I am) rejected it, fortunately ending up in a better room. This was prior to the renovation and the room was like those tired suites at older HR's. I'd say even if refurbished now, you should try for something better than the lowest level suite if that turns out to be the default.

Please kindly be advised that our rooms have been renovated. In this case, our standard room has been changed to Grand Deluxe Room.
So "Grand Deluxe" is now the lowest category. I Imagine someday they will get around to changing the room descriptions.

Sorry - I'm unclear - does this put all former standard rooms out of reach for award nights? Up to this point I just surmised that they weren't loaded yet.

Or you could look at it as they just simply renovated the previous "Grand King/Twin" room and renamed them "Grand Deluxe King/Twin".
I've seen hotels that start their base rooms with a category name "Superior" and then go up to "Deluxe", but I think this is the first time I've ever seen a hotel name its base room category "Deluxe".
Most of all I just wish they would redo the room descriptions on the website, since they are now meaningless.

Thank you. Good. I was putting together the apparent games some hotels have played with terminology and the post above about complete lack of availability.
