Happy to report that my online summary now shows Diamond, after faxing an on-line copy of my Starwood Platinum statement.

Thank you Hyatt!

I got comped in nov. as a tier swich from Ramda, but it was only till 2/01. Then Hyatt wrote me in 2/01 and said I could get a year more to earn Diamond if I gave them 20,000 Hyatt points. I did and I am. I don't know why they did it this way vs. a year/plus comp.

dingbatcat: I made the same experience. Comped to Diamond in July because of SPG Plat, but only until 02/01. Not, I am Plat. Offered the 20.000 points deal, too. But I calculated, how many Suite Upgrades I can buy with that, 2,5 to be exactly. Due to my Amex Centurion Card, I get RC Upgrade at time of booking in Germany anyway, so its not worth to "pay" 20.000 points for Diamond.

I was also comped to Diamond last summer, but they had told me I would be Diamond thru 2/02. When I got the Platinum credentials for this year, I called back to customer service. It took a couple of tries (first time, I was asked to fax a copy of SPG Platinum card,b but had no response), but I have now been extended Diamond status thru 2/02.

Has anyone does this recently? Does anyone know if these are still the correct names to fax your information to? (the ones listed above) Thanks!

Interesting. Tried to get the Diamond status based on being Platinum for last 5 years and my pattern showing that I would make Diamond in the next 4 months.
I received a form e-mail asking me to send proof of top level in Starwood or equiv.
I have now taken my business elsewhere . Shame , as the A/P Hyatts are quite good, but - guess what- the InterCon is about a third cheaper in Sing and twice as friendly!

Has anyone gotten the Diamond status from being Hilton Gold? Unfortunately, that's the best I have. Already Hyatt Platinum.

When you sent the request, did you include a recent statement from Starwood?, or was it just a request?

Sending a recent statement with a short note via fax is not that difficult, especially considering the comped status you might receive.

Also - they want statements that showed 'earned' status. So the 4 stay instant golds from Hilton AFAIK dont work

I don't have an equiv with other hotel chains as I have tried to stay loyal to Hyatt. My point was that I had been at platinum level with Hyatt for a fair number of years and I was on track this year to make Diamond, so I asked for consideration to be granted D status earlier.
No go. made it easier to look elsewhere, tho the A/P Hyatt hotels ARE really nice.!
