Airport Transportation

The following thread and its wiki provide all the information one needs to know about taking a taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport: Catching a Taxi at BKK and general Thailand taxi discussion [SEE WIKI FIRST] The wiki discusses the breakdown of taxi fares from the airport to central Bangkok where Grand Hyatt Erawan is located, and addresses the possibility of being slightly overcharged by a taxi driver.

Alternatively, Grand Hyatt Erawan offers airport transfers in its own fleet of silver Mercedes-Benz S-Class and E-class sedans. The prices of these service are S-Class THB 3,300 (net) per one way transfer (per post 1976) and E-Class THB 2,500 (per post 1975) to or from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Guests using this service will be greeted by a representative at the airport, assisted with their luggage, and escorted to the waiting car.

For an additional charge, the hotel can also arrange "Fast Track" (VIP lane) immigration clearance, as well as the option of being met at one's arrival gate by a buggy and escorted through Fast Track immigration. This service is available for THB 1,600+ 7% vat per person, or THB 2,400+ 7% vat per person to include Golf Cart and porter services.

AOT (and perhaps other companies) also provide transfers from and to the airport. Various vehicle types are available at different price points: Camry (THB 1,200 one way), Mercedes E-Class (THB 2,400 one way).

I always use http://www.limousine.in.th for my car needs in BKK incl airport transfers. 1050 THB from BKK to the city, 900 THB city to BKK (incl tolls).

UBER no longer operates in Thailand. Instead, use GRAB. Similar to UBER, prices will vary. On my trip, I was able to get a GRAB for 364 THB from BKK.

Taxi should run between 400-500 THB. If going from the hotel to BKK, the hotel will quote 500 THB. I had to wait for a few taxi's as the first two didn't want to do unless I paid 750 THB.

Newly minted Hyatt Diamond member. Have my first Hyatt stay ever coming up here shortly. Used code THAI01 to buy 2 get the 3rd night free. Quite a deal. And applied my new suite upgrades to it. Looking forward to seeing what this hotel is all about! I've heard good things

Quite surprised you found availability. No luck on my two stays.

But I agree, great property with a great staff and club.

Also have a stay coming up and booked the 3rd night free. Oddly, when I requested to use a DSU I was told no upgrades were available, but two minutes later I received an e-mail confirming I had been moved to a suite and my account showed one of my upgrades had been redeemed. Not complaining

This seems to confirm what I suspected, the hotel will still upgrade at its discretion into available suites. I think the change in categorization of the suites was a way to give the hotel more control, and to drastically limit the suite upgrade availability that central reservations can access.

They are now offering Airport Fast Track and collection at the gate in a Buggy:

Dear Mr. MAN Flyer,

Greetings from Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok. We look forward to welcoming you to the hotel on December .....

Further to any special requirements we would appreciate if you could provide your flight details or estimated time of arrival to the hotel.

Should you require Airport Transfers, a Mercedes Benz S300 can be arranged at the cost of THB3,000net one way.

Please note, Fast Track Arrival Service is available to expedite the immigration process on arrival to Suvarnabhumi Airport. Passengers will be greeted at the gate and escorted to Fast Track Immigration counter where an airport host will handle all airport formalities with immigration officials on your behalf. The airport host will escort you through customs to meet a Hyatt transfer representative to assist you to your hotel limousine.

This service is available for THB 1,600+ 7% vat per person, or THB 2,400+ 7% vat per person to include Golf Cart and porter services.

We look forward to your arrival and the opportunity to take special care of you and ensure your stay is most enjoyable.

Best wishes,

NUCHANAT SUKAPRADIT

That service has always been offered upon request, it just previously was not advertised on the room reservation confirmation emails.

Pretty much in line with other BKK luxury hotels. Both MO and The Siam charge:

Car Type: BMW 7 Series THB 3,840++ per car per way (Exclusive of 17.7 service charge and government taxes)
Fast Track Service: 1,500 ++ per person (Exclusive of 17.7 service charge and government taxes)
Buggy: 800 ++ per car per way (Exclusive of 17.7 service charge and government taxes)
So I cannot see why the Erawan rate should be robbery? Pretty competitive actually.

Those services can be booked separately for less through Bangkok Flight Services and AOT, but I can see the advantage of doing it all upfront through the hotel. The hotel's add-on is not outrageous.

How much will a meter taxi cost from airport to the hotel?
Are BKK taxis like the SIN ones...where the trunk space in the taxis may be limited? (due to those CNG thingies in the regular taxis in SIN).

I am debating on the hotel limo.....as we will have 3 pieces of luggage.

IIRC, the metered ride should be in the 300 THB range. Many cab drivers will try to charge you a 500 THB flat fee, which is illegal.

I would recommend the AOT limo service. I've had some pretty ratty cabs ex-BKK. You can get the Mercedes E for something like 1600 THB. There are kiosks both in the baggage claim area and after you clear customs.

A taxi will cost <300 THB meter + 50 (?) airport surcharge + toll (if necessary). You can typically fit 2 bags in the trunk and another on the front seat if it's not being used.
