Airport Transportation
The following thread and its wiki provide all the information one needs to know about taking a taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport: Catching a Taxi at BKK and general Thailand taxi discussion [SEE WIKI FIRST] The wiki discusses the breakdown of taxi fares from the airport to central Bangkok where Grand Hyatt Erawan is located, and addresses the possibility of being slightly overcharged by a taxi driver.
Alternatively, Grand Hyatt Erawan offers airport transfers in its own fleet of silver Mercedes-Benz S-Class and E-class sedans. The prices of these service are S-Class THB 3,300 (net) per one way transfer (per post 1976) and E-Class THB 2,500 (per post 1975) to or from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Guests using this service will be greeted by a representative at the airport, assisted with their luggage, and escorted to the waiting car.
For an additional charge, the hotel can also arrange "Fast Track" (VIP lane) immigration clearance, as well as the option of being met at one's arrival gate by a buggy and escorted through Fast Track immigration. This service is available for THB 1,600+ 7% vat per person, or THB 2,400+ 7% vat per person to include Golf Cart and porter services.
AOT (and perhaps other companies) also provide transfers from and to the airport. Various vehicle types are available at different price points: Camry (THB 1,200 one way), Mercedes E-Class (THB 2,400 one way).
I always use http://www.limousine.in.th for my car needs in BKK incl airport transfers. 1050 THB from BKK to the city, 900 THB city to BKK (incl tolls).
UBER no longer operates in Thailand. Instead, use GRAB. Similar to UBER, prices will vary. On my trip, I was able to get a GRAB for 364 THB from BKK.
Taxi should run between 400-500 THB. If going from the hotel to BKK, the hotel will quote 500 THB. I had to wait for a few taxi's as the first two didn't want to do unless I paid 750 THB.

I don’t know whether or not this could be true at Erawan but something similar happened to me at PH Siem Reap. Was out of a zipped place in my suitcase but less than that TripAdvisor case. I saw a hotel employee come out of our room (when privacy was on) and no one should have entered. Hotel was less than willing to entertain any ideas that their staff could steal and GM got hostile to me in emails.
Just had to let it go and would not go back there ever.

I am not saying theft does not happen at hotels. I am wondering what exactly about that post that would make someone believe it is true. I would bet there are more false claims of theft than actual thefts and for that reason, I am skeptical. Unfortunately, I am sure hotels are as well. This post has me skeptical as a multi day situation would be particularly brazen in a hotel and city that I consider low risk for such things. Again, anything is possible. I am still very skeptical in this case.

HR has vinyl flooring and Ikea quality furnishings. I know that's fine with some, but I found the overall aesthetic extremely unappealing. GH rooms are nicer IMO. The GH location is also more central/better.

The suites also include a bowl of fruit which is so good that it really makes me wonder what they are trying to pass off as fruit in the US. Now I know what fruit is supposed to taste like...
The service is also quite good.

To stay on topic, since this is a thread about the GH... The GH has superior service all around, not that HR is bad, but GH just seemed more individualized. Unfortunately the furnishings at the GH are just a little bit older, and while comfortable, don't give off the wow factor I experienced at the HR. Personally, I'd pay the premium to stay at the HR (as it is usually more expensive), but if you prefer things that are more "classic" than "modern," you'll be just fine at the GH.

I've never stayed at the HR so I'm not sure what it's like but it's also worth pointing out that the GH gives globalists the option of their restaurant breakfast which is a buffet with a lot of variety (and includes some made-to-order options). I've actually never set foot in the lounge except to check in during either of my stays.
The suites also include a bowl of fruit which is so good that it really makes me wonder what they are trying to pass off as fruit in the US. Now I know what fruit is supposed to taste like...

GH has check-in at the lounge. HR checks you in on the ground floor and it can be busy at times.

OT: You don't have the option to check-in at the RC at the HR?

Checked in Erawan today for 3N before heading back to US, booked club room and got top floor room 22xx as explorist (will fast track to Globalist in July), better than last week’s 3N stay also club room but lower floor (very first stay of any Hyatt hotel and part of Hyatt Corporate globalist fast track offer), very busy amid tight security due to APEC minisers meeting here Saturday and Sunday, saw one security guy standing on the 22nd floor corner the whole afternoon and night, just meters away from my room. Only complain the same as Hyatt Place is that room a little dark after sunset and I just requested extra lamp which they brought one to my room moment ago. Overall very good hotel.
