every room I've stayed in there has been completely refurbished. Where did you stay? They didn't refurbish every room? I posted pictures of the refurbished rooms upstream, they are very nicely done.
And you really think the Sheraton Waikiki is a nicer property? Wow. The Sheraton is the biggest eyesore on Waikiki.
It looks we found Hyatt's Le Parker Meridien.

Everyone has an opinion as well as individual taste.
Those rooms need refreshing as well as the ugly carpet they installed three years ago.
The club is nice but void of warmth, the staff hurried, the food limited as well as taste.
All facts

That refurb was completed about 5 years ago - without the dressers that are there now. After getting a lot of complaints about the lack of storage they added them a year later.
The hallway carpets are 2-3years old, and awful looking, IMHO.

Your opinions are "all facts" and everybody else's are just opinions? Is that how that works?
I posted about the crib in the room upstream. They gave me a room that was ready when I checked in on that stay, and removed the crib later.

LIH Prem, I think it's entirely ok to disagree. Imo, the hotel has never been great in terms of rooms, pool, etc ... the saving grace was the friendliness of the staff, the club and the low rates. With long lines at checkin, grouchy staff, rates up and the club declining, I will be looking for other options. I stayed on my employer's very reasonable negotiated rate, but with parking and the "resort" fee, I was at over $200 per night. With regular rates, I would have been looking at $250-280. For that kind of money, you can do much better in Waikiki. With top tier status with SPG, HHonors (and IHG), why would I stick with the Hyatt?

Thank you and for the record I will end the year with over 100 room nights at Hyatt's. I also have a contract rate at this property. With that being said I think that I do have a right to post my opinion as well as I "see" this property at times different than many that may just stay a fews a week on vacation.
I am returning for two days in a week or so, twice within a month on business and I have again chosen a rival property even thought I am Diamond Hyatt.

Of course it is, and I didn't intend to give the impression that it wasn't. I agree and I'm not trying to stifle anybody else's opinion.
Of course you do. The only thing I took exception to was the mixing of fact and opinion and the statement that it was "all fact".
We are all entitled to have opinions here. One property or program isn't going to be the best or the worst for everybody in most cases. We should all post our opinions respectfully even if we disagree with others. I think that's what I've been doing.
If you want to read a similar thread in the SPG forum, take a look at the the master thread for Le Parker Meridien. There's a ton of people that complain about the property, and they really hate it, and there's a core group of people that they think that it offers great value given that hotel rooms in NYC are very expensive and top tier SPG members often get upgraded to a Jr Suite there.
That said ...
I have an alternate view than most people seem to have and I have not experienced the service issues that many people are complaining about. I think there were a lot more service issues before the entire renovation was complete and after it was complete (in October) they have started addressing most service issues, but some people are still having issues and they have to continue to work on some of them, including a very busy club and not worrying about staffing a sign-in position (ridiculous), but keeping plates and the food items full and fixing whatever that juice issue is. They should also probably add a second coffee machine, and have it in a different location from the other one and just use it during peak hours.
The hotel does need to do something about the lack of a separate elite line during morning hours when the separate elite station (next to the concierge desk upstairs) is closed before it opens at 11AM. They did have the elite plaque out at the regular checkin at that time, but there was only a single line, so you would basically have to cut in front of everybody waiting patiently in the roped off line to use it. I approached it to ask when the other station would open, passing about 5 people on line, and the nice lady said she would take care of me right there, but I declined, since I could use the other separate station later after it opened.
I haven't been paying anything near $250 - $280 and wouldn't and I don't get a car when I stay in Waikiki so parking isn't an issue. I think other people park at a different hotel, at least that's what people said upstream. I've been paying base rates less than $150 (including breakfast) to stay there. (before TAT, GET, etc and no resort fee so far.) And that rate was even lower during the renovation period. Many people got a rate of $139++ (no resort fees) during the renovation, IIRC.
For the record, I agree with everybody's comments about the resort fee at this property. It's ridiculous. I have not paid it yet, since all previous reservations there were made before they started it.
Those of you that do stay there, please DO complete the post-stay surveys. The hotels really do use them and they should address some of the service issues if you complete them.

We stayed at this property last week for the last three nights of our two-week anniversary trip to Hawaii.
We loved the property but perhaps that is due to getting Room 3965 - Penthouse on a diamond upgrade certificate!
The staff was so friendly and accomodating and certainly convenient.
My first time at this property and the only complaint is that they do not have Coke products....

Great RC lounge, service was fantastic and food was very good. Yes, noisy, but most lounges of this size are.
Check in kiosk by valet did not work. I waited 20 minutes in line to check in. No diamond line. I have drafted my letter to GP and to the GM. This is pitiful service and quite frankly the first full service property I have come across without a dedicated line.

They do have a Diamond Line for checkin.... it is at the desk beside the "tour" desk... on the left side of the reception area.... What time did you check in?

I often arrive at this hotel late, and have never had to wait. Either the line was really short, or when I asked for Diamond check in, I was directed to the next open agent.
I've had the same experience at other Hyatts when arriving late.

When I checked in recently, the Diamond Gold Passport check-in space was manned but was very not obvious (I thought that entire end of the lobby was dedicated to the Expedia Local Experience agents), so I ended up waiting about 15 minutes in the standard check-in queue. Later I talked to an agent who seemed to sincerely listen and promised to pass along to mgmt my recommendation that during the hours when the Diamond Gold Passport check-in space is manned, that they put an additional sign at the standard check-in queue so that Diamonds would know to walk up to the sign, and read a note indicating that they should walk 25 yards to their left.
We'll see if they do anything about it.

Did they change the location of the Diamond check in desk then? When I was there a few months ago I thought it's in the most obvious and convenient place possible. It was located right by the valet entrance to the hotel and you couldn't miss it. As soon as I arrived by Robert's Hawaii shuttle, I stepped out, walked 2 metres, checked in, left my luggage there and walked straight up to the room.
Indeed there wasn't another diamond check in at the main reception desks but if you arrived by car/ shuttle, how can you miss the desk (unless if they've moved it since August). Maybe they're experimenting with different placements.
