I just spoke with a friend of mine who is a concierge in the RC in Waikiki and was told they ARE unionized, however, the staff in Maui may not be. They are all furloughed right now and are hoping to be back soon. FWIW - Satomi did resign.

The RC staff and concierge staff are pretty much the same, though with unionization, some of the roles were removed.

I got this from the horses mouth 5 minutes ago.

I know this is drifting off topic, but I understood that the concierges at the Hawaii resort properties were Expedia employees, and not Hyatt employees. Has this changed ?

Yes I posted that in comparison to the HR Concierge crew. So at the end of the day they are furloughed hopefully to be brought back soon, The real underlying issue going forward are the diminishing facilities, upward march in room night rates, higher fees/food and beverage pricing and last but not least "resort fees" Equity Capital owns or controls the majority of major resorts in the islands they will look to recover the only way is rates and fees. I do not think tourist are going to return that soon. As a reference I have done business in the islands since the late 70's ( man I'm old) and my wife is a "Hoppa"

Are they still charging the “resort” fee to Globalist? If I remember correctly last time they charged me half. With the Regency closed are they giving snacks, etc?

i’m debating using points or cash, points would save me the resort fee and parking if I remember correctly.

It seems like the ViP manager was also let go.

I’ve never been charged a resort fee here as a globalist.

Yes VIP manager is gone - but she was kind of useless.

Aw, the VIP manager was really nice, kinda bummed to hear this. As silly as it was, getting a text that my penthouse suite would be ready at 1pm because she knew i was on the flight that landed at noon was great.

But yeah, i guess if you're cutting costs, thats a pretty obvious one.

There seems to be a revolving door a the Hyatt for VIP Managers.
