This version of the Hyatt card (with its 2 free nights offer) has been discontinued as of June 29, 2017.

There is a new version.

See this thread

__________________________________________________ ___________________________

What are the benefits of the card?
  • 3 points/dollar spent at Hyatt
  • 2 points per dollar spent at restaurants, airfare, car rental
  • 1 point for all other charges
  • No foreign exchange fee
  • Annually, on renewal, one free night at up to a category 4 hotel and is valid for 12 months
When will I receive the sign up bonus?
Typically a day or two after the close of the billing cycle in which you reach spend threshold.
When do the signup points from this card offer expire?
If you have no activity on your Hyatt account for 24 months your points will expire.
Can I apply for this card and earn the bonus after doing so previously?
See the wiki and related discussion in Applying for Chase Credit Cards, 2017 onward.
It's a Chase Card. Does that mean that if I have more than 5 new open lines of credit in 24 months, I will be automatically denied?
This card is not currently under the 5 cards in 24 months Chase application restriction.
It looks like the Hyatt website will let me use my anniversary category 1-4 cert for any property, including those above category 4. Is this for real?
No. Even if the system accepts your attempted reservation, the property will not honor the cert at check-in. Accept the fact that your cat 4 cert is just that.
Can I use my anniversary category 1-4 cert at a higher-category property with a cash co-pay? By paying the difference in points? By asking nicely?
No. No. No.
Can I use my annual free night cert for a suite or Club-level room, possibly with a cash or point copay?
Officially, no. But there's no harm in contacting an individual property directly to see what they're willing to do.
If I close my card account, do I lose any unused points or annual free-night certificate?
No. Unused points already in your Hyatt account as well as the annual free-night award remain available in your Hyatt account regardless of the status of your Chase card.

Questions related to the (now expired) 2 Free Night card offer:

When do the signup bonus free-night awards for this card expire?
The awards expire one year from the date of deposit (typically the date on which the required spend is met, which may fall in the middle of a billing cycle). All stays must be completed by the expiration date.
When I view my free-night awards, why is the button to start the redemption/booking process missing?
You no longer need to go through the My Awards page to book a free-night cert. Simply start the booking process as if requesting an award stay using points.
When I try to book a multiple-night award stay, why does the Hyatt website show availability for points redemptions but not for Free Night Awards?
You will need to redeem the free-night certs one at a time in separate single-night reservations if you want to do it online. For example, if you want to book the Park Hyatt Sydney for December 14-16, you will book the night of the 14th to 15th as one stay, and then repeat the process for the night of the 15th to 16th. Otherwise, call Hyatt to make the booking.
If I can't use my free-night award by the expiration date, can I exchange it for points or get the expiration extended?
According to the FT Hyatt GP Concierge, as of January 22, 2016, there are 2 options for compensation for the initial (all-category) Free Night Awards:
  • Platinum guests: Hyatt offers 10,000 points per Award if the Member has had 5 eligible stays or 15 eligible nights in the previous 12 months. The 10,000 points per award exchange can only be done after the award night has expired. (This is the opposite of the old rule, which required the award to be unexpired.) Members have up to 90 days beyond the expiration of the unused award night to exchange for points.
  • Diamond guests: Hyatt offers 20,000 points per Award if the Member has achieved Diamond status by achieving 25 stays or 50 nights or completing a trial tier offer within the last 12 months. The 20,000 points per award exchange can only be done after the award night has expired. (This is the opposite of the old rule, which required the award to be unexpired.) Members have up to 90 days beyond the expiration of the unused award night to exchange for points.
These policies will reportedly remain in effect after the March 1, 2017 transition from Hyatt Gold Passport to the new World of Hyatt program.

Anniversary Awards valid in Category 1-4 hotels are not eligible for extension. (This is the opposite of the old rule, which allowed a one-time 30-day extension.)
Can I use the sign-up free night cert for a suite or Club-level room, possibly with a cash or point copay?
Officially, no. But there's no harm in contacting an individual property directly to see what they're willing to do.
If I close my card account, do I lose any unused free-night certificates?
No. Unused free-night awards remain available in your Hyatt account regardless of the status of your Chase card.

Agreed there

For me at least, I'm looking to use my points for overseas stays at high-end properties.

Compared to SPG, Hyatt properties are miles ahead in terms of service and amenities, especially in Asia. Even compared to the St Regis brand, most Park Hyatts are superior.

And the 'average' Westin compared to Grand Hyatt or even refurbished Hyatt Regency? No contest.

Just my opinion, of course. :-)

Hyatt VISA Card - personal but with a business profile?

I'm dealing with two mystifying situations:

1) when trying to add a new Hyatt VISA account number to my online profile at Chase.com (which currently shows a Home Mortgage and a Disney VISA accounts on a single "customer profile" page), the system rejects the "add new account" request and returns the following error message:

We're unable to complete your request. You attempted to add a business account to your personal profile. If you want to see your personal and business accounts together, please add the personal accounts to your business profile. (Note: You cannot add business accounts to your personal profile.) Also, please note that personal accounts that are already enrolled online cannot be added to a business profile.

I never requested a business card. In fact, I don't even own a business.

2) when trying to add my new Hyatt VISA account number to a list of valid cards at ThanksAgain.com, the system rejects the new entry and returns the following error message:

We are temporarily unable to process your request and apologize for any inconvenience.

Both situations have been going on for a week. I suspect that for whatever reason my new Hyatt VISA card bears the "markings" of a business card, and wonder if anyone else has faced similar issues. The card starts with 4147 4xxx.

Any insights???

Hyatt Card Free Nights

So exactly one week after first using my Hyatt card, my two free nights seem to have appeared in my account. The only thing is it's the same exact language from an old faster free nights period, so I think they're likely just using an old faster free nights promotion tool on the site to award the credit card free nights. I assume they'll correct the language eventually or fix this tool to make it apply to the credit card award nights.

It appears on my promotional awards page, and it now says "Faster Free Nights™ Your free night award is available to use at any participating Hyatt hotel or resort worldwide. You may redeem your award September 15, 2008 through February 28, 2009. See offer terms and conditions for details [Linked to some old terms].

Awards
Earned: 2
Redeemed: 0
Available: 2
Expiration: 30 Sep 2011
Call to Redeem:1-800-xxx-xxxx"

It doesn't say anything about them being suite nights yet and the offer terms and conditions are from an old faster free night promotion. I'll call the diamond line in a couple of days to confirm that these are my credit card free nights and see how it works redeeming them.

I applied for this card and received immediate approval... well, after a few moments.
My husband and I are planning our trip schedule next for next year and we are looking forward to receiving 2 free nights and using the card to earn rewards at Hyatt hotels. If I find I prefer another travel card and do not choose to stay at Hyatt hotels often would it be difficult to cancel the card? I think the $75 fee is small. The Hyatt is a nice hotel. Thank you.

Canceling a card just takes a phone call.

Good Day:

Of course $75.00 to get two free nights is a good deal; even better if you get two free nights in a suite worldwide.

Give it 6 months and you can cancel the card.

I fail to see how this is a good deal for Hyatt .

A few cardholders will cancel, but most will keep the card.

I know that is usually the case but Hyatt seems to be giving a lot away! I agree with the other poster that most will keep the card. We may as well.

2 Free Nights posted today (6 days after my first purchase)... had to call the toll free # as the 'automated' system I think is still using the prior Faster Free Night template and using the prior eligibility period ending in 2009. Got my free nights this morning! (not going to say where as I will have enough points for another one after my next closing date and don't want my date blocked out)... :-)

Cheers and good luck!

Took three people before I got someone who was willing to look into things. I explained I had good credit, an AMEX Centurion card , was a Diamond Elite who very much wanted this card, and needed to know what was going on and if there was a problem, what I could do to help the situation. She put me on hold for a few minutes and came back telling me that the delay was because I had both a Marriott and British Airlines Visa already. As I was explaining that I would be happy to cancel the Marriott card, she told me that she had approved it - and with a healthy limit.

My tone was cordial and concerned. Looks like it paid off.
I applied Sep 2 and keep getting the same "pending, decision 30 days" recording when I calll to check the status. Today, I tried pressing. I asked to speak to a supervisor that might have additional details. The nice CS rep told me he would trasfer, which he did ... to the Chase Rapid Rewards application line. Tried again and a new CS agent wouldn't transfer the call, stating they are required to make a decision within 4 weeks from application date, and that 4 weeks had not passed.

Guess I am stuck waiting, leaving Oct 2 for a 9-night stay at Hyatt overseas.

Good Day:

I find "Chase" and the process to obtain the Hyatt Reward Card to be completely out of touch with reality and unfair.

I would also like to know what Mr. Marriott thinks about having guests cancelling their Chase Marriott Card in order to get the Hyatt Card ?

Not because they want to but because they have to.

Transfer---two night bonus

I am considering applying for these cards largely (like I am sure many of you) because of the two free nights that you get for opening the card.

My question is, my wife and I are considering opening cards for both of us (hope we get approved) as well as another family member who would be willing to give us her two free nights. I don't see anything in the T & C saying that this is not allowed.

However, when I called twice today, I was told by two seperate agents that no, this would not be allowed.

Furthermore, I was wondering, if they are not transferrable and we booked a trip with this family member's two nights as part of the reservation, how would anyone really know unless they did a bedcheck!!!!

Has anyone had an experience like this or any info they could share?

P.S. The agent said that award points (which I knew) could be transferred by this is different because its a promotion.

Question

I just applied online and was approved.
My question is, can I use the two free nights to pay for existing reservations I already have? I have one night booked at the Park Hyatt in Sydney and one at the Hyatt Regency in Auckland. If so, it would be fantastic.
If not, will my reservations be updated to reflect my platinum status (that is one of the perks of the card right?) or do I need to update them myself? Free internet would be nice.
