"PrePay" process ?

I've used hotwire/priceline, and for those services booking a prepaid room, the charge hits my credit card immediately

I booked 2 nights via "prepaid" pricing in a Hyatt for Memorial Day weekend about 4-5 weeks ago, and no charge has been made yet. The reservation is shown in my GP account.

Is this typically how Hyatt does "prepaid" ? That I'll be charged upon checkout ?

It depends on the property - I believe its done manually - so its a YMMV issue.

I just completed a MR at the Hyatt Morristown on a prepaid rate, and upon checkout, they charged my AMEX. The checkout lady said that they never charged my room even though I was on a prepaid rate. Upon checking my cc statement, this does appear to be the case so ymmv definitely applies.

Hyatt doesn't charge the Pre-paid till check out time, however, if you are no show it will charge automaticly.

I purchased a LTO prepaid rate on hyatt.com in late March for a stay in June. The full charges appeared on my credit card approximately a week later. I don't think there is any consistency when the charge will occur.

I stayed at a Grand Hyatt last weekend on a Pre-paid rate. Booked with one card (nothing ever posted) and presented the Front Desk with another card at check-in...the transaction just posted to my account (card used at check-in) yesterday.

At the asian properties where I have used prepaid rates they have charged me several days to about a week after reservation.

I think it is a manual process. At checkout they hand you the credit card receipt for the prepaid charge. Unlike third party booking channel reservations, Hyatt prepaid reservations are charged directly by the property.

That has been my experience at that Hyatt -- but they can see in the reservation that it is a pre-paid 'package' rate!

It seems to be quite random. I booked several pre-paid nights at one hotel at the same time. About three of the bookings were put through about a week later, about five more were put through about three days after that, and more have yet to hit. I think I've only stayed on one of the prepaid stays so far.

Every property handles this different. It is indeed a manual process as my last experience was with the HR Irvine where I booked a Prepaid Stay friday night and checked in Saturday, the rate got adjusted after using a stay cert and the original amount never hit the account.
