This is a great price. The Rio is a nice, often under appreciated property. The pools are great, food also, good shows, and the whole atmosphere is fun. There is usually a lot going on. It's a lively place.

El Cortez early-mid Dec $33.12 for 3 nights [Orbitz] (+$8-13 in coupons)

1) Using AFFORB40 at Orbitz.
2) 2nd night free at El Cortez in early-mid December on Orbitz.
3) Mid-week (Sun-Thu) prices.

12/14-12/17 Tower Room $31 x 3 + tax = $105.09 on El Cortez website http://ecvegas.com

On Orbitz 65.00 +8.12 tax/fees -40.00 AFFORB40 coupon = $33.12 ai

You also receive
1) Coupon book for internet bookings - $5 free play, $5 blackjack match, $5 food voucher, $0.50 keno coupon
2) Probably will receive Voucher for 2 free nights in Jan (or maybe Jan-Mar 2010). All 2+ night stays receive "loyalty vouchers".

Rates for El Cortez on Orbitz in Jan 2010 are still much higher on Orbitz. Perhaps this is El Cortez's policy to encourage bookings on their own website? It's strange.

Circus Circus $31.70 (3 nights 1/3/10-1/6/10) [Orbitz AFFORB40]

Best deal for early January seems to be Circus Circus. These are refundable at Orbitz (in case I get some free room offers).
1/3-1/6 $63.63 +8.07 tax/fees -40.00 coupon = $31.70 ai ($10.57/night).
- 15% off for 3 nights

1/3-1/7 $74.85 +9.51 tax/fees -40.00 coupon = $44.36 ai ($11.09/night).
- 4th night free

There might be a $1 daily phone fee at Circus Circus. I have some free funbook coupons, and heard rumors that you can get a funbook once/week, but haven't stayed there in ages. Can anyone confirm the fees.

For New Years, I have 4 nights reserved at USA Hostel for $84.20 ai (Wed 12/30 - Sun 1/3, $21.05/night). Rates in Las Vegas shoot up starting Wed 12/30/09.

This is my first post, so bear with me. What are slickdeals? I am planning to visit Vegas January 23-26 (Sat-Mon nights); where would I bet the best hotel deals?

Thanks.

Is the freeplay of any real value or is it one of those worthless deals where you can only cash out if you hit a huge jackpot that you're not gonna hit?

Stayed at Aria on Monday night (Dec.21). They load $25 onto your MGM Players card. I took it to a blackjack slot machine and played in $5 increments
until the free play was expired. I got $45 cash back. Maybe I was just lucky. As expected, you can't just insert the card into the slot machine and immediately cash out and get the $25. You certainly don't have to wait for a huge jackpot. It was my first time basically playing the slots. I'm usually a table games player.

The Orleans - 2 X Two Nights Comped for Registering Online

Just got a nice freebie from Boyd gaming. I was looking for a cheap two nights in January. I logged into the Boyd site to see if my old players card would save me a buck or two. I registered to see my points balance, which amazingly has something like 1700 points. I have not been in Vegas in 18 months so assumed everything had expired. Anyway, I noticed a link to get two free nights in December and two in January. Followed it and quickly got a comped room for 1/24 and 1/25.

The rooms were selling for $22 a night anyway so not a huge deal, but still a decent place to sleep for a few hours a night.

Stayed there last month. At that time, they charged $1 per day resort fee (claimed it was for the use of the phone), even though on the Orbitz website there was no "resort fees" at Circus Circus.

When I was leaving I saw the resort fee was going up to $4.95 USD per day, starting on Dec 21st, so beware.

M Resort

Not a hotel question but does anyone know where one can get a deal on the M Resort Buffet in Vegas? I am going for CES and was told I should try that place.

Many thanks,

M has a VERY liberal comp deal going on-get 500 points (about $25 in decent slot play last time I was there)and get a free buffet.
Also-they were doing a free buffet for new slot club members-never hurts to ask.
Otherwise even if you have to pay full price it is very fair especially if you have a couble of glasses of wine/beer as it is included in your meal.
