I didn't get that email yet but I just send them an email in Korean. General manager personally replied and offered 60,000 KRW rate (breakfast). I think you can get the rate at least. WR said this hotel does not participate in WR, just a redemption partner.

I hardly every saw such a bad crisis management in a hotel.
I am getting more and more such emails. The hotel wants me to cancel myself. Huhu, they don't want to accept the rate [which was obvious to me in this particular case] and then they also want me to cancel
I wrote them back that they should cancel themselfs. Unbelievable

What about the old strategy of paying, then disputing via card later?
It is not perfect, but avoids an ugly shouting match in Korean-English

No, no, no, I am not in Korea, I won't go and it was never my intention to go there.
I did not even think they will accept the bookings.
I made the bookings only because I thought I could use them in order to generate airline miles.
If somebody is in Korea and needs to stay there then I would certainly suggest to pay whatever they want and later on dispute with the credit card company. The case is actually pretty clear: They were supposed to deny the wrong rate "within a reasonable amount of time from the moment when they realized the error in the system". Under no circumstances can they simply inform the customers on the day of arrival with "Sorry, you must now pay 100 times what is on your confirmation".
I did not even think they will accept the bookings.

You would definately be required to sign, but that could be an error or just extortion. I think the mail confirmation would win.
