Still confused & surprised that they accept a self RAT test without supervision
Does check in staff worldwide aware of that ?
Also if you fly back from Hong Kong to the US, do you need to make a test to comply with new US customs entry requirement ?

If you plan to travel by air to the United States from China, Hong Kong, or Macau, you will need to get a COVID-19 viral test no more than 2 days before your flight. You must show your negative result to the airline before you board your flight.

I have used the CTC $240 travel test with certificate 3X during the previous "test required to enter Canada" without any issue.

Are there any labs in HK that provide antigen tests (with report) for less than $240? In most of the world, it's easy to find RATs for cheaper than PCR, but the few labs I saw clearly set their price early in the pandemic, at $500+ for a RAT.
So thanks to the price cap on PCRs, it looks cheaper to do a PCR than a RAT these days - unless some locations updated their price accordingly.

CTC is $150 for a PCR test so long as you can wait 24 hours for the results.
One concern is whether the new 60,000/day quota for crossing the border -- all requiring a PCR test -- will swamp the CTCs, and make booking a test difficult.

Aside from CTCs being probably swamped starting next week, my main concern is that I'd rather have a RAT than a PCR before flying back to Europe.
You never know what kind of hell can break loose when a PCR turns out ever so slightly positive....

I am flying to HK on Jan. 9. It's been 5 years since I visited HK.
Will HK authority really check the self Rapid test?
