I'm a bit puzzled in reviewing the Klook website information about Airport Express tickets. My assumption is that you would take the emailed voucher to a desk at the airport to have the tickets issued, but apparently that's not how it works. The website states:
From the Airport: Ticket cannot be redeemed at Airport Counter. Instead, board the Airport Express train directly. When you reach your destination station, simply show your voucher on mobile to redeem tickets at the customer service center before passing through the electronic gates. Passport / identification card will be required.
If I'm understanding this correctly, you simply exit the airport and get on the train without a ticket - and then pick up the ticket (and your return ticket) once you reach the Kowloon station. Is that accurate?

Can one also show letter/ID at the counter in the departure area prior to boarding train?

You're not the only ones.
I've had the same problem buying a few things. I guess they have a problem with their system.
I phoned them up for one thing, and they said they needed to manually authorize all transactions, and the woman did it there and then on the phone.
I'm not sure how that's instant, but...

I've just updated the wiki as Klook is now offering a 35% off discount (same as Hong Thai).
Also, with effect from this month (June 2017), Airport Express fares have increased (for the first time since operations commenced 19 years ago):
Previous fares:
HK - Airport: HK$100 (one-way), HK$180 (return)
Kowloon - Airport: HK$90 (one-way), HK$160 (return)
Tsing Yi - Airport: HK$60 (one-way), HK$110 (return)
New fares:
HK - Airport: HK$115 (one-way), HK$205 (return)
Kowloon - Airport: HK$105 (one-way), HK$185 (return)
Tsing Yi - Airport: HK$70 (one-way), HK$120 (return)

Note that with the new fares (unlike the old fares) there is a slightly cheaper rate for using an Octopus card in that the one-way (& same day return, which costs the same) are $5 cheaper with an Octopus card, i.e. $110 to HK, $100 to Kowloon, and $65 to Tsing Yi.
