Free travel for children (aged 3-11) and half-price travel for seniors (aged 65+)

From 16 December 2022 to 29 January 2023, Child Octopus card holders enjoy free journeys, while Elder Octopus / JoyYou Card holders enjoy a 50% discount on the Octopus fare. Details available on the MTR website.

Up to 40% off single and return tickets

Hong Kong, Kowloon and Tsing Yi station tickets are available at a discount of around 40% off.

Alternatively, if you pay with an HSBC credit card and the total order amount is at least USD50, you will receive an additional USD5 discount by entering the promo code HSBC18US5 (first order only). For details, see https://www.homeandaway.hsbc.com/1/2...looktravel/all

30% off single and return tickets

When purchased from Hong Thai travel agency either online (http://www.hongthai.com/tc/Promotion...Promotion.html) or in person at a branch office (list of addresses: http://www.hongthai.com/tc/templates/BranchListAll.html).

If purchasing online, the "confirmation note" (which you must print out and show at the Airport Express station ticket counter to get your ticket) will be e-mailed to you 12-24 hours after you make your purchase on the Hong Thai website. The "confirmation note" is valid for 60 days from the order date. Visa, MasterCard, UnionPay and American Express are accepted payment methods for online orders.

If purchasing in person at a branch office, only cash/EPS is accepted. You will receive a paper voucher valid until 31 December 2018 which must be exchanged for a ticket at the Airport Express station ticket counter.

Confirmation Note is redeemed at Airport Express Customer Service Centre at Tsing Yi/Kowloon/Hong Kong stations; not HKIA station. When flying into HKIA, head directly to Airport Express train. Thanks. I've also updated the information in the wiki about the Klook.com discount (which has increased from 27% to 30%).

just a thought

Standard travel agencies discount the AEX ticket(coupon) by 20% around HK. If you are a large account and buy in bulk of 500 the discount is greater.

Sometime there is a clearance by the large chain when they have over committed to MTR Corp for their annual commitment.

What is your final stop? Depending on final station, it generally does not make sense to board at airport and travel all the way to HK station to catch the red line.

You're probably better off taking a bus. Bus E21 gets to the airport relatively quickly and only costs 14 HKD.

Otherwise you need to change twice. Don't go to central, but get off and change at Tsing Yi and again and Lai King.
Or you could take it to Kowloon station and then take the free shuttle bus.

Thanks. Might as well do that to save me (a whole lot of) money.

Will the bus have English announcements on where to get off? And how does the payment work besides Octopus card?

Thanks! ^

Bus stop announcemtns are in Cantonese, Putonghua and English. Most buses also have bilingual display of the next stop.

Octapus or exact change are accepted payments on buses

It is extremely rare for an airport bus not to have bilingual next stop scrolling displays. The fare is based solely on where you get on. Pay as you enter either by exact change or Octopus. (No change given if you choose to pay, for example, with a $20 bill)

Careful with the stop reporting on buses. At a few stops where they are really close to each other and traffic is moving fast, the stop reporting may not be able to catch up. And occasionally, it may be out-of-order altogether. Bus drivers in HK are not the most courteous or patient in the world to tell you whether you have reached your stop. So, do some homework, and best if you have a data plan on your phone so you can check where you are using New World First Bus/Citybus' app. You can see the route, where you are and where your stop is.

Thanks for all the info. Anyone know where I can get the bus at the airport? I tried looking at the HK Airport website but I can't get a definite answer.

Thanks again.

There's a map of the bus stops on the hkairport website: http://www.hongkongairport.com/leafl...cation_map.jpg

To get to the "You are here" point just follow the signs for buses from the arrivals hall (essentially, go down the slope in the middle of the arrivals hall, then turn right). The signage is very obvious. The "You are here" is at the bottom of the slope after you have turned right and emerged more or less outdoors.

I did look at the map, but doesn't really show where exactly in the airport it is.

That's not the right map for you, but trust us, you don't really need a map to find the bus terminal.
