Airport Express Current Discount

Hi: Thank you for your help.

I'll help put together a Wiki for this thread if others want to help.

The Airport Express Train is running a discount @ 140 HK$ each way for two passengers. Have to be two or more.

And, of course, this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Ko...l_Airport#Rail

That is the standard group rate, not a time limited special.

For frequent visitors many travel agencies sell coupons for one way (one year validity) or RT (within the same month) for a discount.

You need to change the coupon to "card" to enter or exit at the service counters.

CX duty free gave me $10 off the roundtrip fare.

You may buy it from travel agencies in advance, like this one. It's $140 for RT.

Present the email at the ticketing counter to get the ticket.

Hey! I was miss-informed by the agent.

We purchased two OW @ 140 HK$ when, according the website above, we could have purchased the RT @ 125 HK$ saving 15 HK bucks.

That's the going rate for a single purchase. However my price with our HK TA in quantity is much better.

CX Holiday offers similar. Slightly cheaper/more expensive depending on your station.

25 single trips without RT commitment, one year validity at a Star ferry crossing less each.

Hong Thai is currently selling Airport Express tickets at a 40% discount on its website:

http://ebuy.hongthai.com/tc/airexpress.html

You need to make your online purchase at least 24 hours in advance, as the "confirmation note" which you must print out and show at the Airport Express station ticket counter to get your ticket will be e-mailed to you 12-24 hours after you make your purchase on the Hong Thai website.

Thanks paul00

Note #6 states "All the tickets listed on the Confirmation Note have to be collected at the same time. Partial Collection is not allowed.". Therefore, my interpretation is that if you are travelling alone and want to buy x tickets for use on different occassions, then you will need to place x orders separately.

Thank you paul00!

Iamhappy - I interpreted the other way. I understood it as you have to pick up all the tickets at the same time.

I've never taken the Airport express, so I'm not sure how their fares work i.e. buy now, use later, or if they are dated.

Could somebody confirm?

There are two versions:

One was and still is a printed coupon that you exchange for a Octapus size card to enter or exit depending on the station. Full retail at travel agencies is around $80 for HK Central. You can get them cheaper if you have frequent dealings with the agency.

Agency chains buy these annually in bulk. Maybe HongTai is clearing out their 2015 commitment?

The other is a voucher that you print and exchange for the same enter/exit card and it was always redeem these cards all at the same time. I have no experience whether these one time use cards can be used at a later date.

Maybe ChrisLi can comment?

I just looked at the ticket confirmation that you have to print out. I hope this clarifies this for everyone, especially about when you have to use the ticket.

Please bring along and present this Confirmation Note in person to collect the ticket(s) at the following Airport Express Customer Service Centre* on or before the above redemption deadline.

‧ Redemption of ticket(s) cannot be made after redemption deadline and customers should bear the responsibility of not able to collect ticket(s) if required document(s) is/are not presented.

‧ All the ticket(s) ordered have to be collected in one go. Partial collection is not allowed.

‧ The ticket is only valid for the day of issue. The round trip ticket is valid for 30 days from date of issue. All tickets are non‐refundable.

All times are GMT -6. The time now is 7:11 am.
