Has anyone tried China Mobile? It says the 30-day data package is HK$30, but that seems way too cheap. Am I missing something?

China Mobile HK's mobile data add-on is inexpensive, $18 for 7 days and $38 (HKD) for 30 days - it's not the fast 4G or 3G when I last used it - just 2.5G/Edge, slow but workable for email & mobile browsing, not for streaming video. (I have the 1C2N prepaid with same add-on options & rates) That's about $5 USD for 30 days of unlimited access (maybe a hidden cap, never a problem at 2.5G speed for me, YMMV)

"Theworld" updated the summary and PCCW in HK (with access to more WiFi hotspots) is highly recommended, although I'll most likely stick with CMHK for the time being as my mainland # is very useful while traveling. And, IDD calls (directly dialed from handset) to USA are very, very cheap.

Links #1 and 3 are for monthly plans, which require HKID or a large deposit (if they let you sign up at all)

FYI CMHK may have a 3G prepaid offering. If I get a chance today I'll pop into CMHK to find out more.

CMHK 3/4G prepaid (English page not yet available)

http://www.hk.chinamobile.com/tc/pre...ices-4g3g.html

Daily max data charge 28HKD

Data package 200MB 50HKD, 1GB 148HKD

Without weekly package, not too useful.

Data plans available only on this specific SIM card.

Edit: 3G network running off PCCW's , 200MB and 1GB packages stay on the account until SIM card expiry, or the allotment is used up.

The card(80HKD) is very popular, due to various promotions such as free distribution of the nano card version at MTR station and 1GB bonus data with 100HKD recharge.

CMHK stores have been out of stock for weeks.

I used CSL one2free when I was last in HK and it was great. Strangely though, my iPhone seemed to run out of charge bizarrely quickly while I was there. Not sure if it had to do with the network, as this hasn't happened to me anywhere else...

Thanks! Definitely first time I heard about this package.
Since I usually browse the English website instead.

Was it just recently released or something?
Think the stock be more stable in the coming months?

They placed ads in the Chinese papers lately so maybe they will have stock real soon.
