I have tried on numerous ocasions to get folios combined and I get all kinds of excuses about the inability of the system to do that. I find it easier to have them put your name along the name of the other guest on the other one you need credit for if you do not want to put your name only on both.

It always takes a call to the Service Center to get proper credit but I never had any problems in doing that.

I recently faced this problem when checking out of two rooms at the Kensington Hilton London. There were errors on both bills which the clerk promptly fixed and then she combined both bills onto one folio at the end, all with a smile.

Both rooms were in my name. The kids were in one room, the parents in another. I don't know if that made a difference. I think she was more embarrassed at the errors on both bills and didn't want to make a stink and there was nobody else in the checkout line at that time. That probably helped too. There is a big differnce between abilty to do something and actually doing it.

Finally these were only incidental charges that were combined as the rooms were award stays so maybe they really can't put both room charges on the same folio.

Two stays for one night??

I'm going to be very close to making 28 stays by the end of the year for diamond. In a couple weeks my boss and I will be staying at a Hampton for a night and I've booked my room online (500 VISA bonus points ). I need to reserve his room today. Is there a good way to book his room (online, by phone...?) and get my honors # on it? I don't care about the points, but if I could get credit for 2 stays it would be great.

You can book the room in your name (a second room) and add his name to it. It still likely won't help at check in. You have to get the hotel to merge the two folios onto your room folio at checkout--tell them when you check in that you would like to do this.

Maybe it is different in USA but in other locales, e.g. China, the primary person's name goes on the room and even though your HHonors number is attached you don't get any points if the two folios are not merged. This is indicated in the HHonors terms and conditions too:

" You may earn Base point credit for up to two rooms per stay, if all eligible charges for both rooms are paid on one folio. Base point credit will be earned for all eligible folio charges incurred on both rooms. Bonuses issued on Base points or total folio charges, including tier bonuses (15%, 25% or 50%, depending on member tier) and double or triple Base point promotions, will apply to the total Base point credit earned or folio charges incurred for both rooms. "Double Base points" means you will receive a bonus equal to the number of Base points earned during a stay and "Triple Base points" means you will receive a bonus equal to two times the number of Base points earned during a stay. For any other bonuses, including HHonors partner bonus points and other promotional bonuses, bonus points will be awarded on one room only. You will receive only one stay credit (including credit toward HHonors VIP tiers), and only one mileage credit will be earned. Bonus points earned on Base points do not count toward VIP tier qualification (Example - "Double Base points" or "Triple Base points" promotions). "

It sounds as though this route will not work for the OP, since she needs stay credits, i.e. she is hoping to get credit for 2 stays (2 rooms); but according to the terms and conditions above, only one stay credit is allowed.

This is correct. Double Points: Yes (if you merge the folios). But Stay Credits = 1. Sorry.

Is there another Hilton family hotel nearby which you can also use? Need to be careful though as according to a recent thread no shows are charged and you dont get the points/stay credits.

Exactly. I've gone through the hassles of merging portfolios (we were hosting some friends from Australia,) and I got the points, but only one stay credit per stay. Your best bet for the remaining night is to book the cheapest HI near your hoe or where you are visiting for one night, check in (and if you want, leave with a rapid checkout.)

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think there was a way to get two stays out of it but it doesn't hurt to ask....

There's a good chance we'll make diamond for the first time this year anyway

Getting credit for past stays--2nd room

I just read that Diamond members can get base point credit for up to 2 rooms per stay. Since I often have others travel with me (for which I pay as business owner) this is very intriguing. My questions are--
1.) How do you make sure you get credit for 2 rooms when you check in?
2.) Any suggestions for trying to go back and get credit for past stays? I probably could create a spreadsheet for about 25-30 extra rooms I paid for last year (1 extra room per stay).

Thanks!
Steve

My experience is that you have to always call to have the second room points post.

You should be able to get th old ones posted but may have to fax receipt's

You're only going to get missing credit (per T&Cs) for any uncredited points going back six months.
