The large streets are crossable but you need to go up (through the malls) or down via the underground crossings (Nicoll and Raffles Ave.) or take Temasek.
The malls can be a little confusing but if you want to avoid the malls on your next visit just walk out the main entrance to Temasek and follow it to the right around the bend. There are signaled crosswalks for the 2 blocks (for Raffles Blvd. and Raffles Ave.) to the Helix Bridge and It is a straight shot to MBS.

To update:
My stay at Conrad Singapore is much better this time.
No broken pieces of chocolate left in the wooden tray in the room . Instead, there is 8 strawberry cover in chocolate sit in the wooden tray , a bottle of champagne, an -un open chocolate box and a card to congratulate us on our weddign anniversary.
Still not allow to do check in on floor 31. Not sure why . Granted a late check out at 7:30pm due to late flight as request . Food on the lounge (31 floor) is better compares last stay .
Will come back to stay here again in June.

Observations from my stay on mid-December last year:
1. Lines outside Oscar's: nothing on Friday, however, on weekends, it gets long. (ps: no smoked salmon on weekends too, that one was my favourite item). You're right on this one.
2. Quite a lot of local guests checking in on weekends for a free staycation, courtesy of KrisFlyer Amex card (one free weekend night at any Hilton properties)
3. I showed up in gym few times, and I was the only guest. Service was great, theres always a staff there proactively offering infused water and towels.
4. Gym staff have no idea how to turn the TV volume down (they were showing CNN all the time), I was a bit surprised.
5. I arrived in the hotel on 9:30AM, and got a room assigned straight away, super early check in.
6. They were handing out fruits for the first two nights, and some Singaporean cakes for the last night. Talk about welcome amenity daily.

I had 2 nights booked here but have been stung by the latest embargo for entry, I transited Shanghai airport on the 28th Jan on my way to Vietnam. I’ve missed the cancellation window, I’ve emailed the hotel and am hoping they will waive the policy, fingers crossed. 120K points at stake. Shame really because I love Singapore, now it will just be a six hour transit at the airport which gives me the 14 days clear.

Good shout TZ, thanks, Hilton came through after contacting them via Twitter, both reservations cancelled and points refunded. It’s a shame that if I ever do get to go now I’ll only be Gold but in the grand scheme of things that’s small change.

First Post, be Kind.
This is our third visit to Conrad Singapore. We contacted hotel in advance to advise we were arriving for our Wedding Anniversary.
Suffice to say, very happy with our current stay:
Notes: There is Lauren Perrier (Brut La Cuvee NV) available between 6.30am-11am every morning during breakfast and every evening from 6pm-8pm on the 31st Floor Lounge, you have to request this by the glass. During the day from 6am-8am, Beers, Wines and Sparkling Wine (Chandon Brut) available by the glass free of charge (again, only on the 31st Floor Lounge). Spirits are only available between 6pm-8pm.

So I've come back from my MEL-SIN-MLE-SIN-MEL trip.
Had 4 nights in total at this Conrad - 1 night on certificate and was upgraded to executive room and 3 nights on cash booked into the suite.
The 1st night was on CNY, and the bear was the special CNY edition. As diamond, was also given a platter of CNY sweets, fruits and Conrad chocolates. As others have mentioned in this thread, this Conrad is good, but nothing spectacular. I didn't encounter any "cold" staff members on the lobby floor. All were smiling.
For whatever reason, when I did OLCI for the two stays, I never got to choose even numbered rooms which I believe were the Marina Bay views. Does the hotel reserve those rooms for repeat guests or something? But it's ok, we were facing the Fountain of Wealth for CNY! One thing I find funny is the "privacy/do not disturb" button on the bedside table. Often, I had to walk back from the door to switch the light off.
And with the directions provided by the posters here and with Google Maps, it's quite easy to get around. In fact, I prefer this location compared to the hotels on Orchard as it's easier to get to MBS casino. Speaking of MBS casino, for those who've seen my posts know that I hate dressing up, I was wearing a t-shirt, chinos and sneakers to the casino after reading about the "smart" dress code online. It turns out it's all bull. Inside, it's shorts, thongs and slippers, just like Crown here in Melbourne. I know not to make the same mistake again!
I will add my own tip regarding Promenade station. It's better to go out on the Circle Line and come back on the Downtown Line to reduce the amount of walking within the stations.
