Any chance of breakfast at the restaurant @ Riverside?
At several hotels, we've had the option of having breakfast in the restaurant even if the hotel had a lounge. These were in Europe (Frankfurt and London), though. Is there any chance that they will allow that here (any experiences)? The offerings at the lounge are sparse, as noted - all carbs and no protein.
Cheers.
Cheers.

I love the Roosevelt. About a half mile from the Marriott. Treats their diamonds very well, I have had a couple of awesome suite upgrades. One time I received an upgrade with a suite with a piano. They will upgrade diamonds to suites if they are available and I was told that they give preference to diamonds who spend a lot of nights at Hilton over diamonds who get the status via credit card and don't stay as much. No breakfast but two drink coupons.
Hilton Riverside is about the same distance to the Marriott. Upgrades haven't been as good for me there as far as suite upgrades go but they do upgrade to the exec level and nice work out area. They have an exec lounge and they are now only giving diamonds and those on the 29th floor and diamonds and no longer giving all gold's access so it isn't as crowded but it's your typical North American lounge for breakfast but there are plenty of great places to have a cheap breakfast at in NOLA.
Doubletree is very close, just behind the casino, but their treatment of diamonds isn't that great. They only have a couple suites, so don't plan on a suite upgrade. They use to give diamonds a full breakfast buffet and gold's the continental but now diamond's no longer get the full buffet and get the same breakfast gold's get. One nice thing though is that you can use the vouchers later in the day at the coffee shop kiosk or towards dinner or appetizers in the bar which is pretty nice seeing I prefer to eat breakfast at Café DuMonde or someplace else in the quarter. The Doubletree is also stingy with a late checkout. They use to give diamond's a 2 p.m. checkout no questions asked and you could usually push it to 4 unless the hotel was busy and now they charge for a checkout past 1.
I would chose any of these three properties over the Marriott though. I have stayed at the Marriott before and wasn't the impressed

The Waldorf-Astoria Roosevelt.
We booked a standard room with a free-night certificate last Christmas and were upgraded to a huge room on a high floor. Linens were spectacular, the room was gorgeous, and the hotel was decorated beautifully for the holidays.
Diamond members get a coupon for a free beverage in the bar.
It's easily in the top 3 of nicest hotels in which I've ever stayed.

... another thumbs up for the Roosevelt. I stayed there as a Diamond a couple of years ago to celebrate my spouse's birthday, and they treated us very well. I can't comment on it in comparison to other Hilton properties, as I have not stayed at them, but we enjoyed the Roosevelt so much that there is no doubt we would select it again on our next trip.

Unlike the other poster, I really like the Riverside. I just stayed there over the Holidays. If you get an executive floor room with a river view, the views are stunning. The location is central to both the Quarter (which I quickly tire of) and the warehouse district (where the REALLY good restaurants can be found). The executive lounge breakfast is strictly continental, but the snacks in the evening were pretty good with at least one hot dish. Unlike the other poster, the lounge did not cost me anything.
I have only stayed at the Roosevelt once as a Diamond and while the furnishings were really nice (upgrade or not), the only other Diamond perk was two drink coupons. The location is the furthest from the river.
One thing is for certain, the other NOLA properties aren't really worth considering. The Hilton on St. Charles is a cool building but tired (and if you want to see a bad executive lounge...). The others are limited service properties.
June will be hot and humid, but enjoy your time in NOLA!

That won't be the case for long. That property just completed an extensive renovations and the rooms are a lot nicer. The lounge should be finished soon and it will be much larger with a pool table.

If you can find the history of that building, it is a nice read.
Now, the lounge itself, well, was just the size of a pool table.

I will join the chorus and say the Roosevelt. But I got a GREAT rate when I stayed their a year ago just before Christmas and their decorations were incredible.
