Greetings:
I just booked a suite for a stay later this month and was wondering if they are located in the 'lighthouse" section or not. Was on the EL on the 8th floor and loved it last October. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Had 2 rooms last spring, one was a suite in the 'other' tower ( i forget the name), and the other was a room in the lighthouse tower, on the 8th floor. The view from lighthouse tower is nicer. You get the bay view from the other tower, but you can also see the parking lot, the storage tanks, etc.

Thanks for the replies. I remarked in the "other comments" portion of the standard hilton.com reservation form about my request, and got an e-mail from the Hilton Barbados saying they would try and honor my request for a suite on the beachfront side of the Lighthouse tower section. I will leave it at that until I check in..............!

Have just booked my first premium room reward stay at the Barbados Hilton.
Am confused whether there are any taxes to pay in addition to the required number of points.
Can somebody who has stayed there on a reward stay help please?

Thank you.

No taxes or resort fees. You'll only have to pay any incidental charges that you incur.

Is $279 for Hilton Barbados a good price?

We are travelling in mid Jan 2013. Does this hotel participate in the "january sale" usually? Should we book now for $279/night.

As hhonors gold, do they usually upgrade to exec floor?

Kind regards!
Pelle

In the Sept to Dec low season, I have seen prices as low as $189/199. For Jan through April, prices jump up usually close to $400. I would book $279.

Upgrades to ocean view or deluxe rooms are common, but rarely to the executive floor but YMMV. Even if you are not on the Exec floor, you should be given lounge access.

The Hilton Barbados is one of my favourite properties, even more so since they banned smoking in the restaurant and around the pool.

The Hilton is a great property. I would agree that at that time of year $279 is a good rate. And this is a great property for getting high value out of your HH points. There is a good thread on the Barbados resort in the Hilton forum:

Thank you for your answers. I have actually given up smoking after 22 years of bad habit. I read abour the anti-smoking laws in Barbados so that actually helped me quitting.

We are using our points for NY but I think I listen to your advice and book. How is the exec lounge? Hot breakfast and free evening cocktails?

Thanks a lot!

Moderator action

This is better placed in the Hilton HHonors Forum, where it will be relocated.

Exec lounge is great. Breakfast, afternoon tea, evening appetizers. Open all days for drinks.

Again, more info in the main thread:

As a Gold member, with your MyWay preferences set to room upgrade, you are only granted access to the Executive Lounge if you are upgraded to an executive room. You will however be entitled to complimentary continental breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Only Diamond members are guaranteed access to the Executive Lounge if not upgraded. Hopefully you will be lucky, but all upgrades are subject to availability.

I have stayed at the Barbados Hilton many time (since 1968, when it was a completely different building). You are unlikely to be upgraded to the Executive Floor (even as Diamond I always book and pay for the Exec Floor as I know the chances). As Gold you will not be allowed in the Exec Lounge unless you are lucky enough to be upgraded.

The lounge has an honor bar in the evening. Drinks about 4-5 US$ IIRC.
