FEBRUARY 6, 2020 UPDATE

Loyalty Lobby has reported and the FlyerTalk Hilton Honors Ambassador has confirmed that MVP rates can no longer be booked via the MVP website without the required association with targeted sports programs.

You don't need to register anything. Just use the corporate code(s) found upstream when searching.

Is the MVP discount code no more?
http://stay.hilton.com/mvp/ now produces an error. This was the direct url to Hilton.com with the MVP discount pre-entered.

Has the MVP program gone away? (The discounts haven't been great in recent years)

Use the group code 0561135262 in the app or website. The VERY occasional MVP rate still shows up.

The code goes into the Corporate box, not Group, for any future triers.

Was looking at rates for the various Hilton properties in the Arcadia (San Gabriel Valley) area. MVP rates were regularly available, but pricewise they were exactly the same as AAA and AARP.

The NYC, SFO, and BOS hotels I listed were outside of my budget, but I did actually click through on Portsmouth, NH and the HI and HGI MVP rates were a dollar or two within other refundable rates.
