I don't think they have their act together yet. Many months ago we decided to cancel our upcoming June stay and burn the cert at the W-A instead. Even though I've got the Virgin cancellation number don't you know I just got an e-mail reminding me of my upcoming stay?
Can't wait for them to tell me I was a no-show.

This isn't specific to the Virgin hotel. Not sure if it is specific to the Vegas area, or just Hilton in general. I had a reservation for a Hampton Inn in the Vegas area, I canceled it about a week in advance and also received emails reminding me of my upcoming stay. I was not charged, and my guess would be was also not listed as a no-show. This was late April/early May.

Being mostly a non-gambler, I have very low expectations which I am sure the well priced Virgin will adequately meet in late September.

Got through my stay. It was changed from a free night to a 100% paid stay because there was a promo that added $50 F/B credit.
Stayed in a room in the Ruby Tower similar to Friendly Traveling Deathmerchant's, except it had a scenic view of the parking garage (this was my upgrade).
Small details were... just not right (though the basic hotel hard product is fine). My roommate friend came in the night before and his room in the Canyon tower was missing hand towels and wash cloths, a call to Housekeeping was given up on after 5 minutes of no pickup. The console in the living area of the suite wasn't actually plugged in, so you couldn't use the power points and USB charging on the console. English breakfast doesn't come with toast ($3 upcharge). The hotel deposit did not trigger the 14x Hilton bonus on the Aspire card or the resort credit (had to use the AMEX website to chat with a rep about that, I may have to follow up if the rest of the folio doesn't trigger either).
Simple drinks at the casino bar were $12 (so very much Strip prices). I think the room is fine, and the food at the Kitchen at Commons Club was tasty enough for breakfast for both of us (I thought the brunch Dutch Baby for two was pretty tasty). The hotel is dead compared to Hard Rock- on a busy Vegas weekend I didn't see a lot of people in common areas (and the video poker paytables are Strip miserable). Didn't make it to the pool or dine anywhere else on property because it was an action-packed weekend+ for me (é by Jose Andrés, Hugo's Cellar, Oscar's were where I ended up).
All told, it's... fine for what I paid, given that I burned a $250 Aspire resort credit, split the bill with my AMEX Green to use the $50 Hilton/Curio AMEX offer, and the current Hilton triple points offer meant I netted something like ~28k points on it. But honestly I'd rank this place below something comparable like Vdara (though well above the Tropicana) because things have been smoother there. Perhaps these are opening jitters... but a couple of months is a long time to have opening jitters.
I'd stay here again on an attractive rate (especially given that $250 resort credit could basically give you a "free" multi-night stay), but I don't think I'd burn a free night here.
Hilton's been doing this to me for a lot of stays I've cancelled. I assume their marketing email isn't all the way hooked up.

"But honestly I'd rank this place below something comparable like Vdara (though well above the Tropicana)"
I'm curious why you chose Vdara as a comparison (which is a non-Hilton) hotel - did you perhaps mean Elara? (very understandable).
Well, my experience this week at the Waldorf Astoria wasn't stellar, either (see that thread). Maybe Hilton is just pouring all its energy into Resorts World and not focusing on its other Vegas properties at all right now?

So there’s definitely a problem with getting Virgin to post bills correctly as a Hilton property on an AMEX card. I had to speak to an AMEX representative today and they are investigating this- is this something you can look at from the Hilton end Hilton Honors Ambassador? Perhaps get the hotel to change how they are sending merchant codes from the front desk?

Booked on hotel website vs. hilton web site
Today i booked two rooms using virginhotelslv.com because the total was 20% less expensive compared to hilton web site. I did talk to hotel to confirm that my Hilton Gold member benefits apply to both of the rooms but they said i will not score any points.
1-this is in the end a Hilton hotel and i did not book thru 3rd party. Shouldn't i be earning points anyway? and will the nights i stay count towards diamond elite status?
2-Hotel reservation only shows up if you retrieve with conf# from the hotel's website. Will my reservation ever show up in Hilton app?
3-Anybody stayed lately and what are your impressions? seems quite impressive on their website given amenities, restaurants and cleanliness.
4-i paid with my hilton basic Amex card. Will i earn 7x points?
5-if i choose not to have breakfast there, anything decent nearby? (not all the way on strip)
6-I knowingly booked this off-the-strip hotel but will i be able to walk or do i absolutely need uber to get to Strip?
Thanks admins and everyone. Hilton Honors Ambassador

Hi.
Not sure on the other points but Google maps suggests it is about 1.2 miles to the miracle mile shops on the strip.and about 26 mins. Plus time from your room to outdoors. You will have some streets to cross . The flamingo monorail station might be slightly closer.
it is walkable bit would not want to do it multiple times a day or during the heat of summer.
I did a walk from the strip to the National atomic testing museum on East flamingo ( very good museum part of the smithsonian) and jt was a good half hour walk). Area was fine ( not sure about nighttime) but it is a lot of walking especially if you eill also be walking the strip.

WAITAMINUTE.
I just went to book, and see there's a $45 per night resort fee at the Virgin. Uh-oh.
I checked into it. Jan 19 it starts. Goshdarnittoheck.

(This was my new go-to over the Trop for economical but great stays... Now it's a price hike of 40-70% on low demand days. Virgin just went from "great place" to "it's too far away from the Strip with no views for that price" status.)
