If the offer is over/kaput/done-with/nomore
(and this does appear to be the case), then it seems appropriate to me that Hilton should take down the web site http://www.hiltonhhonors.com/profile/
which still promises the 1000 points.

FYI, I rarely use the faces. The last part of it was in jest, for if I were really annoyed, I would never have answered their queries.
I, too, not too long ago was a Newbie, and I greatly appreciated the support and assistance I received.
I would just add, that I would reccommend that some questions be searched first before raising them, because this FTer usually aske questions, to which others have generously provided answers.
If however, you are still confused, you will find many on this board, more than willing to offer you assistance.

DOC 2 BE: Thank you so much for not taking offense and flaming me. These days walking on eggshells is not enough--it seems you can't even walk. I appreciated your response as it clarified that your intentions were only the best. I'm sure you are aware that so often these days people asking questions are treated very roughly and it is hard to tell who is "joking" and who isn't. Also, the use of those smilies (I'm not talkiing about you) can still just be an iron fist attempting to be wrapped in a velvet glove. I am glad that you, like me, are willing to give the benefit of the doubt to others who may just be inexperienced or unaware of things like search (which, let's face it, is not that satisfactory an experience) and will learn down the road.
p.s. I know that part of my problem is personal with the use of the term "newbie." I will always consider this a derogatory term as it was liberally applied to me and others when I first started work in a data center and was definitely not meant in a nice way.

Dear TW --
People have attempted to FLAME me so often that I can discern who is and who is not. I knew you were not.
I am not in the least intimidated by it, in fact I rather like it, for it presents a challenge to me. So does imparting knowledge. I guess it gets a bit wearisome to see the same questions pop up again and again. BUT THAT IS LIFE.
CONCERNING FLAMING, YOU MIGHT WISH TO SEE MY LATEST RETORT:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum57/HTML/001178.html
IN THE FUTURE, I THINK OTHERS MAY GIVE SOME PAUSE BEFORE ACCUSING ME OF BEING SOMETHING THAT I AM NOT.

Doc2be,
I respectfully disagree that Kremmen
could have found the answer with a search.
(At least I can't find a firm answer.) Kremmen's problem is getting his first 1000 points for an update. The Hilton system seems to be behaving one way for new members who have gotten the 1000 mile enrollment bonus, but not an update bonus, and another way for older members who have gotten 1000+ points for updates in the past.
If an older member tries update again using that http://www.hiltonhhonors.com/profile/, it tells us that "our records show that you have already received your profile bonus points. Only one profile update bonus is awarded per member. ". This is quite reasonable.
There are many threads since 1/1 discussing this: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum57/HTML/000961.html
and http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum57/HTML/001031.html
and you started http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum57/HTML/001059.html
But when Ozstamps put the post in Buzz about getting gold, http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/004134.html
he gave clear instructions about getting the profile update for new enrollees. At that time, my wife got a new HHonors account, as apparently did Kremmen and others. The updates go into the system. But the process ends with the error page mentioned in Kremmen's note. https://www.hiltonhhonors.com/ErrorHtml/System_Error.asp?NoPtRet
You, Kremmen and I all contributed to Oz' thread.
I appreciate Kremmen contacting IT at Hilton about this. If they said they would fix it, I hope someone reports when it is fixed. If anyone has firm knowledge that the 1000 point bonus is gone for first time updaters, I hope they would post it.

I stand corrected SOSA!!
I now understand the issue. I signed my wife up before there was the problem and she got the 1,000 point sighn up bonus. I did not realize that that was the problem complained of, rather the problem that we all now face of no more points after we receive the 1,000 point sign up bonus.
I am a big enough person to admit my errors, I have always done so and always will, and therefore, MEA CULPA!!!!

Just thought I'd fill you all in. I got a friend who is in the same position (and in the USA) to contact Hilton and they said there is no bonus any more for updating your details. They gave no explanation of why the web page still says you do or why it crashes out at the end.
However, when it was pointed out to them that they have had this error coming up for some time and that they'd previously said they would fix the web pages, they gave us both the 1000 point bonus manually.

Oh, SO I WAS RIGHT AFTER ALL!!!!
You did get your initial 1,000 points but you were not getting the update bonus. Well, none of us have been getting the update bonus, and that is what I and others have been saying all along!!
I am glad, though, that you were at least able to get an additional 1,000 points for your troubles!

Thanks for the update, NoahVail.
They've finally fixed it. Instead of giving an error screen, the final screen now credits the points and says that this is a one-time bonus.
