I'm essentially throwing in the towel on this one after I sent an email to some Sr. Hilton executives, which had gotten me in touch with an escalation specialist. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to do anything with the AXON certificates and so now I'm trying to scrape together the nights through refunded AXON points and some CC nights. I still think it'll work out, but it's been a royal pain.

Good luck to those in similar situations; hope it works out better for you all than I.
You should DEMAND they honor your reservation like several posters on this thread have been insisted because 1) the rep let you book it. 2) the site let you book it. 3) So they should honor it.

Happy to hear your thoughts then. I've been actively pursuing this for past two months. Have dealt with supervisors in HHonore and guest services. I've been told everything from, "we'll take care of you" to "your reservations are fine" and ultimately, "there is nothing we can do". No one ever calls me back and when I call to follow up, the person with whom I speak says they will do <whatever the last person said>. 2 months later and my certificates aren't extended. I emailed the Hilton CEO and several SVPs and that got me another person who wouldn't or couldn't help.

Got any thoughts for who next? I feel like I've exhausted all channels.

You should ask those posters of posts 152, 153, 157, 158. 160 just to quote a few of the latest posts, (LTH, kiltedflyer. luvtogo, and whimike,) on their thoughts and suggestions how to get this accomplished since they are SO SURE they would prevail despite they are in very similar situations as yours.

Wonder why they are rather silent on your latest update on this.

I've given my input based on MY situation. I did indeed make a reward reservation online for well over one year out, which was allowed with no 'system override' for the Hilton Moorea. ( and others have certainly reported succcess booking and staying > 12 months pre devaluation) The Hilton Moorea emailed ME to confirm my reservation, making sure I really meant late 2014, as the reservation was made in early 2013. I confirmed, and ALL IS OK with the hotel, with MY reservation. My reservation was NOT an AXON, was a regular GLON, or whatever you call it, and I certainly never received a certificate with an expiration date, as I know you do sometimes, but not always do with an AXON. I certainly am confident, with MY reservation that the Hilton Moorea WILL honor it,as they have told me as much with email confirmations.

Nittany has AXON awards, which some have received separate emails giving a 12 month expiration. MY award did not have this, as it was a regular reward and booked totally online. Nittany had to book by phone, as this is the only way AXONs could be booked. I think Nittany should pursue the option that a Hilton agent, on the phone , had to book this room; was impossible to online as it was an AXON. So, if this was not allowed, why did a HILTON agent book it? The SITE did not let her book it, a live agent booked it.

I would also try get a confirmation from the hotel directly, and not from Hilton corporate, as I got from the Hilton Moorea.... Can't recall if Nittany was in direct contact with the Maldives.......

I wish Nittany the best and hope that it can be resolved. Booking reward stays greater than 12 months ahead was allowed before the great devaluation of spring 2013, and has been well reported. If this was a reward stay booked in 2011 for a 2013 stay, would this be an issue?

The issue I guess is an AXON versus a regular award....... But AXON is the only one that requires a live Hilton rep...........

Pulling for you Nittany.....

No need to worry about snarky comments here - some people just have too much ego to be challenged.

For bookings made beyond one year, whether your booking is under AXON or GLON doesn't matter; the only thing matters is the hotel. If the hotel honors the booking, it will regardless of what type of award booking it is.

I think in your case just purely bad luck - you booked a hotel that is not forthcoming to honor this deal. That's it, end of story, you need to move on.

We all try to take advantage of different hotel/airlines deals; sometimes we are lucky while other times we are not. C'est la vie.

We are silent on this because it is an AXON, which is by a 3rd party certificate from AMEX, which does have an expiration date printed on a certificate which is usually sent to the customer. But, you already knew this, and are just trying to fan flames since your telling everybody our reservations, using GLON awards, won't be honored was proven wrong.

Or in my case, I haven't responded as yet, because I was so bored by this conversation I thought we'd settled on some think its all doom and gloom and others don't see a problem. It definitely appears there may be problem with Axons, but many of us who have booked with Glons are quite relaxed. I made bookings for 2014 and 2015 (13 months and 26 months out) both have been confirmed by hotel , even after we asked specifically about these bookings being made over a year out.

So, no one is adding anything new to this debate. It's all here in this thread. Lets let it die, and as appropriate we can post our success / failure at the relevant time.

Is there any consensus on the validity of making a reservation using the CC free weekend night certificates for past their expiration? If my free night certificate expires March 2014, can I make a reservation for June 2014 using the certificate and will it be honored?

If you actually paid attention while you read any of my posts on MY situation, you would know that the award I booked (which has also been confirmed as valid by Hilton Corporate) was GLON not AXON. Not the same situation as Nittany987.

Next time try knowing all the excruciatingly obvious facts before you flame someone.

PS: Why have I been "silent"? The short answer: I have other things to do rather than monitor a forum thread 24/7 looking for new replies. And like Deepd1ver7, I thought this convo was dead. Sheesh.

Fully agree and wish I had more to add that would/ could possibly lead to a solution for Nittany987.

In my case, and as I've previously posted, I contacted the CM, the CM escalated my inquiry to Corporate. It was actually Hilton Corporate that issued the final answer directly to me, with the CM cc'ed on the email chain in less than a week.

Your certificate will NOT be valid for your June 2014 reservation and you will have to pay rack rate if you show up trying to use it. The certificate expires in March 2014 and is no good for payment after this date. You MUST use the certificate by the expiration date.

It's no different than trying to use an expired CC. It won't be accepted and you will have to come up with another payment.

This question has to do with booking into 2014, not the devaluation. I am looking to book a few nights at one of the Hiltons in Munich during Octoberfest. When I check the flexible dates I see there there is availability everyday except for 2-3 weeks during Octoberfest in 2014. I get the message about how there's limited availability for Hhonors points during this time. Now I know they haven't sold out because I can find plenty of award availability during Octoberfest in 2013. Are they just blocking these dates until a later time? Would I have better luck trying within 365 days?

Just thought to bring this thread back up and see if anyone that did book 12+ months in advance last year having issue with checking-in their hotels this year.. or did I ask this question a few months too early. I had a reservation for summer this year. I already email the hotel about some special arrangement and they haven't say anything on the reply. I might try to send another email closer to my check-in to ensure no surprise during check-in.
