Big thanks for the heads up! ^

We had already pre-paid for an Xmas week stay at a DT, but given the huge drop in the price, I was able to negotiate an immediate upgrade to the suite we wanted.

also thanks...

Dropped our rate for our one stay in early January by a modest, but appreciated amount. Only downside is that the Thank You rate only showed up through the dedicated link and not when I just tried to change the exisiting reservation, so I had to cancel and book anew.

Is this rate eligible for the Q4 promotion, such as the Virgin Atlantic one?

Point-earning rate, so should be eligible for all promos. Thanks, OP.

Just used this to re-book 3/4 of the hotel stays we have on our Christmas California trip. Beverly Hilton night went from $300 to $160. Similar discounts in other places, we saved somewhere around $500 total. YAY!

It does appear that the rate is valid for stay and point credit, so it should work just fine for the Virgin promo.

One question for more experienced FTers: several of the hotels we have showed no availability when I tried to book at the Thank You rate. Would calling the hotel have any effect on changing it from our booked rate to the Thank You rate?

Probably not since each property had to opt-in for this promotion. Call, maybe they will discount some, but doubtful.

Thanks indeed, hotel in Buenos Aires went from an (expensive) Marriott at $180/night to $109/night, and I wanted to stay at the Hilton!

Very nice in that its cancellable as well, so I get to wait and see if Marriott responds!

I saw this earlier today - was able to cut one of my upcoming rooms from $89 AAA to $69.
