Hilton Prague
Was 30K until end of May. Now it is 47K on this dates (( I have three stays coming up at Hilton Old Town Prague and have been monitoring both Hilton Old Town and Hilton Prague properties. stay 1 Old Town was 40,000, now 38,000 Hilton Prague was 30,000, now 27,000 I booked Old Town at 16,000 and $70. No more points and cash that I can see. stay 2, Old Town booked premium room at Hilton Old Town for 36000 points, now showing sold out for same date for standard and 55,000 for premium (may be slightly different room) Hilton Prague was 30,000, now showing 27,000 stay 3, Old town, booked premium room for 37,000 points while standard was offered for 40,000. Now showing 40,000 for standard and 55,000 for premium. Hilton Prague was 30,000, now 24,000 While these stays are out of season, the standard points seem to have come down a bit except in one case where the amount stayed the same but the premium rooms have risen in points cost. The points and cash option seems to have disappeared unless I don't know how to search for that rate. |
I'm crying into my bucket of Hilton points :-(

A room at the Conrad Bangkok or Macao would have cost me 40k HH yesterday all year round as a straight redemption. Now I've seen it as low as 29k. The slider price now gives you 12K + $200 versus 12K + $75 in the past! Which period you see 29K?! |

I think the only benefit will be when the rate is above what would be the cap is eg prior Cat7 has reg rooms for say $350 so it will take only 60k or is so low say $150 so now it will be 30k when in the past it was 40k and most likely folks would have paid ca$h instead of using 40k W/o any proof my gut tells me that these cases where we will benefit will be far and few, but they will be out there
Hilton has been masterful here. With slider scales and promises of not exceeding the "cap" (which previously might have been the caps for two months a year), and claims that "sometimes points go down," Hilton has jammed through a massive devaluation with nary a peep. And that's hard to do in the travel hacking world, where every blogger is borderline hysterical to scream "devaluation" for clicks, even if it's just Club Carlson changing five properties. Kudos Hilton. Someone should get a raise. For those who are used to redeeming 25,000 points for $100 rooms, I say a hearty congratulations. You totally scored here. For everyone else -- which I would have though was pretty much everyone who has ever bothered to post here on the pre-eminent travel hacking website in the world -- well, you just got hosed, whether you realize it yet or not. |

But there are lots of people who like WN's new system, they will also like this one. I don't. The main positive I see is that we no longer need to feel bad about burning our points at .5 cpp. So I'm burning 33,000 for an overnight at FRA Hilton. Saves me 142 Euro cash. Not aspirational but cash in pocket is cash in pocket. |
Sad to see Hilton go this way.
It has been a lovely run but I think if they don't fix the points plus cash deals we are done. Too bad. We really enjoyed staying at the Tel Aviv property. I am sure we can find something else but I really love that hotel. :(:td::rolleyes:

I think most of the comments here are negative. As reflected by the thread title. Most of us I think have a general sense that value above .5 cpp is mostly be gone.

Not aspirational but cash in pocket is cash in pocket. Along the theme of saving cash - I am delighted to find that in all 3 major airports in Poland, Hilton has the low end properties right by the airports. Best of all they are Cat 2 properties but cash rate is at $75 to $100. So for our upcoming trip we luck out at GDN and KRK, especially considering we arrive at KRK at 10:30pm - the HGI is located in front of T1 in 3 min walk.:) Hilton Helsinki Strand was at 60K before Mar 1st. Now I saw it at 59K and 43K on the 2 days we would be in town. But we decided to stay at Radisson Blu Royal instead (at 44K Club Carlson pts) due to the transportation is far more convenient (from either ferry terminal and to the airport). |

For all the members who think they've just seen a devaluation, yeah but it is going to get worse. Get out now. The FAQ includes this: Additionally, we are currently using the hotel’s peak redemption price from the old model as the continued maximum threshold for redemptions using Points & Money Rewards™. For example, a Category 10 previously topped out at 95,000 Points, and in late February 2017, those hotels will still not require any more Points than that. The Hilton EVP said years ago that allowing some members to find outsized awards meant they were being subsidized by the other members. That of course is crazy talk, but it is the ridiculous mindset at Hilton that we are dealing with. Today i got an e-mail for more bonus points on weekends. That is how they wil deal with this: devalue, devalue, devalue, then throw enough points to limit defections. |
I won and lost with the change.
Had 2 rooms for 2 nights at the DT London Kensington. Went down from 50,000 to 46,000 per night. Hilton Barcelona went from 40,000 to 36,000 per night. Rebooked everything and had enough left over for a Hilton Garden Inn at LAX, which I needed in Sept. Lost because I needed a 2nd room in Barcelona. I grabbed a 16,000 points + €58 for 3 nights a few days before the switch. 16,000 + €128 is the new rate for the 4th night I needed. So I'll probably have to burn the 38,000 points rate for a 1-night reservation. Overall, not mad at the change. But it's definitely a devaluation of the C&P program. |
It annoys me that the amount of points required per night constantly changes while the cash rate per night hasn't changed a bit over the last few days (at least not for the properties I am looking at).
Property 1: Wednesday morning 22k Wednesday afternoon 19k Thursday morning 20k Thursday evening 30k This morning 28k Property 2: Wednesday morning 30k Wednesday evening 28k Thursday morning 30k Thursday evening 25k This morning 37k I am looking at dates in Oktober, am I supposed to check the rates every day until my dates are there, canceling and re-booking constantly to get the best deal...?? |
Has Hilton fixed the bug yet? When searching with flexible dates, only premium awards shown.

Been looking at a Dubai property for about a month (I'm about one month away from having enough points).
Before this change, the room was 55,000. I checked yesterday and it was 56,000. I checked today and it is 65,000 (so an increase of 40,000 for a 5 night diamond stay). How on earth are they making these changes?! I'll stay with them for now, simply because the corporate cashback I am getting staying in Hilton's is worth far more than their points were anyway (10% for the next 3 months...). |
Am I missing something ?
I have looked at 6 or 7 hotels in Europe today and although there is an icon shown for points and money there is no "slider" or any other means of booking this way. I understood that all hotels were to have this facility on all dates. |
