A couple people in my office were at the Seattle downtown Hilton and checked out yesterday.
One is gold (via credit card and rarely stays at Hilton) and other is a diamond who has it via points, stays, nights.
Gold asked for a check out of 3 p.m. and they told here 2 was latest they could do. Diamond asked an hour later for 3 p.m. and was told 1 p.m. was latest they would give without a fee and they wouldn't budge (hopefully it was a different FD clerk). The girl that is a diamond just stored her bags after checking out in the others room and they waited until about 2:30 to leave and weren't hassled for staying past 2 (the one wanted to enroll for Clear and they love the Beechers Mac and Cheese at the skyclub so they decided to go to the airport early). The FD asked if everything was ok with the stay on checkout with my colleague that is diamond and she complained that there was someone in our office that was a lower tier with a lot less revenue to Hilton that was given an hour later checkout than she was and she was told it was based on availability. If they have 2 p.m. availability for a gold then why don't they have the rooms for a diamond who spends $10,000+ more a year with HIlton??
Good to see this hotel takes care of their more valuable guests

Hampton Inn, Turnersville, NJ.
Asked for 2pm, first told no (12noon). After telling them about being Gold, front desk unwillingly said only for Diamonds, but put in 2pm with lots of huffing and puffing.
I mostly stay at Hiltons in SEA (Thailand) and 4pm late checkout, including the use of lounge, has never been an issue in Hilton Millennium Bangkok.

Asked for a 4 pm checkout today when checking in at the Palmer House Chicago Friday and no issues and was told I had use of the lounge after checkout if I needed.

Have always gotten late check out at Hilton Buenos Aires including one stay where I was even granted a 1800 late check out. Have never had a problem at this property.

I got an 8 pm. that's right 8 pm at the Hilton Addis Ababa. Asked for 6, said we had a late flight. Manager asked what time we were leaving and I said 8 and he said, well you can have an 8 pm check out.

Homewood Suites in Chandler, AZ. Seems like more a business hotel. Asked for 2pm checkout on a Friday (what should be a light day) and granted. Diamond but didn't mention that to the clerk.

I've had two experiences in the last year when a late checkout was denied on days that I would've thought were low occupancy (Saturday at a business hotel, and Monday at a hotel near a casino). It was a little annoying at the time, but then on a stay earlier this year, I arrived at a hotel at 10 pm and my room wasn't ready, so thinking back on those previous denials made me pretty angry.
