Anyone knows about Embassy Suites in South Lake Tahoe? Is it going up in category?
Thanks.

Except in peak season - when it's hard to get a free room anyhow - very few Hiltons cost more than $240 a night. And the math even gets worse the lower down the category chain you go. Obviously my situation is unique to me but I'll start putting my charges elsewhere. I charge $1 million a year on my cards for my small business. There are plenty of cards out there that want that business.
P.S. One exception may be if you are an American and want to use points to stay in hotels overseas. If the US dollar declines then it will at least be a better deal for us.
Amex cardholders can get 4 nights in a cat 7 for 145K AXON7N award

Both going form Cat 5 to 7

Amex cardholders can get 4 nights for 145K which is a 20K increase over the current AXON offer for the same hotels today

Nice catch, you can simply enter the city, check 'Use HHonors reward point' checkbox and it'll show the cats - not even logging in required.

San Francisco Bay Area has one category increase for nearly all hotels. 50,000 points to stay in San Francisco city at any of three Hilton hotels.

I can understand Embassy Suites SFO in South San Francisco going from Cat 4 to Cat 5, but it is outrageous that the Hampton Inn next door to the Embassy Suites has increased from cat 3 to Cat 5.

These changes look bad...really bad.

Miami: DT Surfcomber becomes a 7, Conrad stays a 6, Hilton Downtown remains a 4

Dubrovnik, Croatia: Cat 5 > 7

Prague Old Town: Cat 5 > 6

Booked 4 nights in Dubrovnik and 2 in Prague.

But I admit I calmed down quite a bit when the rep confirmed (as others have) that Amex AXON awards are moving in lockstep with the increases. Cat 6 will be 125K and Cat 7 will be 145K.
