The hotels rates sure are going crazy. A smart fan would have anticipated the Warriors going to the Sugar Bowl and booked refundable rates weeks in advance. We don't qualify as smart fans, so we ended up shelling out 30,000 Starpoints for three nights. Oh well, should be worth it.

Yeah, we hope so. It's our first time to NOLA, even though we're very familiar with the South (just not the deep South). So it should be fun. But, what makes this trip even more exciting is that not only are we visiting a new and exotic destination, we'll be doing it with at least 10,000 other locals who may make the travel (and all the Warrior fans across the US).

Call us stereotypical locals, but we've never spent a NYE off the rock--not even in Vegas!

So it turns out that Boyd Gaming does own several casino/hotels in Louisiana, and is considering chartering flights to New Orleans from Las Vegas for the Sugar Bowl. Here's a good article from today's Star-Bulletin reporting on the current state of tickets, charters, travel agency packages, etc., for the big game: http://starbulletin.com/2007/12/04/news/story01.html

Rumor has it that when public tickets go on sale this Thursday, Georgia fans will buy out the rest of the allotment so that Hawaii fans won't have a shot at filling the crowd.

From their perspective, not a bad idea, unfortunately for us, if it comes to fruition. Remember when go! ran their $1 sale, and we advised HA and AQ to buy up those tickets themselves? Funny, huh?

Oh well.

Go Warriors! Beat the Bulldogs!!!!!!!

Unofficial word is that the 17,500 ticket allotment is sold out. UH is taking waiting list names for season ticket holders at a cap of 6 tickets per person.

Travel Ways is doing a charter flight that leaves for MSY on an AQ flight on Christmas day and return at 3 a.m. on the 3rd of January. No idea what the pricing is. Christmas day is incidentially the same day the team leaves for MSY.

I really can't believe that UH sold out of its allotment. Wow!

The buzz I'm hearing is that folks are finding season ticket holders who can't go, and having them procure the tickets for them. Not surprising since everyone is so connected here. It's all about ohana!

12/25-1/3? I'd pass on getting there 5 full days early. Also, I don't recommend Travel Ways.

I'm hearing that HA is doing a charter too. No idea how to book it, though.

Yikes! We calculated it out and with our combination of *points and cash, we'll be spending $2400 for two people including airfare, nine nights of hotels (we'll be stopped by SOCal on the way home), a car rental from LAX, airport transfers in MSY, and game tickets. That's $1200/person. Wowie; that's looking like a steal!

Any reason for avoiding this company? Sounds like the best return flight deal with the flight leaving right after the game.

Just because of a situation which I won't get into publicly. But they have no complaints against them on the BBB. Panda, vac hawaii are top notch. The Mrs. works for neither.

Flight leaving right after the game? did you typo? The game is on the 1st, flight leaving 3am on the 3rd? I guess when comparing it to getting there 5 days early?

Okay--thanks. I'll pass the word on and keep this in mind.

Yeah, I did make a typo here. Looks like the flight leaves after the game, not the 3rd and gets into Hawaii the morning of the 2nd.

Got confused since we're leaving on the 3rd...
