I was in SIN in June 2012.
Keybox was a well equiped venue, although very crowded spaces, it caters mainly for Asian to Asian encounters.
Absolute in Pagoda st was a lot of fun.
Utopia is a great guide online to where and whats happening

Keybox is sticky rice, Absolute is very nice with most guys very gym fit. If your out of shape this is not the place to go.

I and my FT friend went to Singapore earlier this month and "Play" was a very nice. Tantric and Taboo were nice too but too crowded. "Play" was not too crowded but good music and 80s in a separate room. Spacious. Vevue bottle at a reasonable price. The catch was the last call time was too early for us. 3/4am.

This thread had been dead for more than 2 years, is it Singapore's gay scene is just as quiet or closeted like Hong Kong ? Or just in general not many gay FTers go to Singapore ?
I am planning to go there with a gay friend next weekend (He is closeted but I am out except family, we don't play with each other), am wondering any gay areas in Singapore ? I am not a club or bar person since I don't drink and don't enjoy loud music, probably more than likely would want to check out the local bathhouses instead, don't recall ever having sex with anyone from Singapore.
Any bathhouses are good in Singapore ? And bathhouses that have smoking area too ? I am 34 and Chinese btw.
Are those US base sex sites like a4a and bbrt still frequented by the gays in Singapore ?

I had fun in some of the bath houses - but not in all of them. Got to check out which clientele attend each.

I had a good time at Tantric bar, about a year ago. It has a nice outdoor patio. It's on Neil Road, close to several other gay bars and clubs on the same road.

This is a pretty good info board for Singapore's gay life, though a bit too detailed-- you have dozens of pages about particular bars, clubs, cruising areas, etc. But you could ask some questions there and see who answers!

I was most recently in SIN last May. I haven't been to any gay venues, but as others have said, the apps are indeed very lively. I was staying near City Hall and my apps were fully loaded within 2km.
I've been to New Asia Bar (my Singapore favourite) a few times on weekends/club nights and I've noticed (for Singapore at least) a quite mixed crowd. The light system there by the way is absolutely sensational!

In Singapore now and last night went to the strip of the few bars (Out, Tantric, DMYK) to have a drink. Couldn't really tell what was going on in a few but I saw some people at Out so I went in and had a drink.
$12 SG for a vodka/soda I thought was a little pricey for the place. A few groups of Asian friends, a white couple and 2 white guys at the bar. I spent most of the time on Grindr realizing half of the people are escorts. I googled a bit more and then saw Cruise was on the walk back to the train.
I debated but when I walked by it a really hot guy walked out so I thought what the hell give it a go.
The man at the front asked me how I heard about it and I said Google. He asked if I had ever been to a place like this before. I said yes and he asked "Like what?" I said LAB in Berlin which is probably a lot crazier than here...but also saunas in Florence and Toronto.
$10 for a year "membership" and because of the time it was $28 entry for underwear night.
The maze/dark room was pretty full of people. Varying degrees of Asian guys from a few muscle ones to regular but seemingly most 40 and below. Many wall flowers and people just walking around, best to just take some initiative to get the ball rolling. Was up to bat twice with home runs and then decided to take off. May go back tomorrow for "Swimsuit" night.

I'll be in Singapore next weekend! Likely will go to Backstage, Tantric, or Taboo.
I want to try Tantric's famous Blue Spin or Long Island cocktails then want to take advantage of Taboo's $25 free house pours, and meet some guys at Backstage.

I did go to Cruise, seems like majority are mandarin Chinese, was hoping there would be some Malay or Indonesian, quite disappointed, but nonetheless I was quite popular, perhaps they recognize I am new blood and not regular. The place is Steamworks like without rooms available for rent.
The idea to go to Cruise was actually recommended by a young Malay guy who work at the Conrad where I stayed, I would much rather play with him then spending the money at Cruise, though he is partnered.
I think there is another bathhouse near Cruise, the guy who work at Conrad didn't recommend as I think he said that one is more for older and beefy guys, which I should have gone to that one instead, since I am more of a chubby chaser than anything. Even though I was popular at Cruise (especially I think one of the nights I went was a no towel night, the Chinese in Singapore seems a lot friendlier than those in Hong Kong, they let you grab them unlike those in HK will just remove your hand immediately), I didn't get the kind of sex and guys that I want.

Be aware that Backstage moved and is now next door to Tantric on Neil Road. It gets busy a bit earlier at around 10 pm while Tantric is busy after 11 pm. Backstage still tends to attract white guys who like Asians and vice versa. Tantric keeps expanding and now has three outdoor areas. Across the street from Tantric/Backstage are DYMK, Out bar and Taboo (dance club).
The "old" Backstage near Chinatown MRT has reopened is now called Dorothy's Bar.
The most popular gay apps are Jack'd and Grindr. There are plenty of massage boys (mostly Indonesians who come for a few weeks to make some quick cash) but most of the local guys make plenty of money and would be offended if you thought they were seeking cash.
The "old" Backstage near Chinatown MRT has reopened is now called Dorothy's Bar.

FWIW, I've been asked and I've seen the front desk guy ask others us how they heard of Cruise and if they've ever been to a place like that. You are expected to name at least one other bathhouse. But the front desk boys don't know them all, even the kinda famous ones. I once had to vouch for someone that Labyrinth in Prague is a gay bathhouse. If you can't think of one, just say Babylon in Bangkok--they know that one.
