Recommondation for 5 hours at MUC?

Any recommondations for a 5 hours lay-over at MUC?

(This will be in front of our flights to AKL in C.)

You could use the LH Aiport Bus or the tram to get into the city center of Munich. You could get there within 40-60 minutes. The bus leaves every 20 minutes and the tram at least every 30 minutes. So you can easily spent 2-3 hours shopping, sight seeing or enjoying a beer in the English Garden.

Although you'd have to pay (up to 5 people on one 18 euro ticket which is good until 6 a.m. next day if you miss your flight ), you could ride s-bahn lines S1 or S8 wherever they go; not restricted to city center. Maybe there's something interesting at the Besucherpark. (MUC is pretty much now my international MR destination of choice - so much that I've made some friends here amongst the locals.)

You could also take a bus to Freising, an city close by the airport with an nice cathedral, an historic city center and the home of Weihenstephan Brewery, one of the (maybe the) oldest breweries in the world.

The bus runs every 20 mins, takes about 15 minutes and from there it is about a 10 minute walk to downtown

Given that you're located in Germany, this probably wouldn't be that big of a thrill, but if it were me, I'd take the S1 or S8 to the Karlsplatz metro stop and head to Augustinerbrau at Neuhauser Strae 27.

I'd consume a sausage platter, some pretzels, and drink a couple of mugs of one of my favorite beers in the entire world.

Can't find their beer anywhere near where I live here in the US.

When I was passing through MUC last year I picked up a pamphlet called "There are better things to do while you are waiting" with a picture of a man sleeping on an airport bench on the cover. It listed things you could do if you had under 3 hours, more than 3 hours or more than 5 hours.

I've just found an updated version of the pamphlet in PDF format on the MUC website.

That pamphlet is actually a nice idea. I just love this airport more and more.

And the vouchers for the airport bus are nice, too. 5.50 EUR one way to the city center is a pretty good deal.

Thanks, this pamphlet is realy a good source of ideas what we can do. I am certain we will find something interesting.

Also a big thank you for all the other recommondations. Now I am nearly afraid to have not enough time at MUC.

I find that I have a 5 hour layover this Sunday (May 3rd) between HKG and AGP so I found this guide to be helpful. Just too bad the massage centre is only Monday thur Friday. Can anyone tell me if the showers are better in the LH lounge at MUC then at Frankfurt?

Except for the Welcome Lounge in FRA, I always found it a lot easier to get a shower in MUC. The waiting time in FRA is kinda nasty. Other than that, it is just a shower.

Only a limited experience but MUC Schengen lounge showers are much nicer than FRA non-Schengen lounge (B) showers.
