I agree. Even though MUC can process a 30 minute connection, it does add stress to the connection, and delays could be problematic.

With the CO/UA merger, they are not issuing updated FF elite cards showing *G status until the merger finalizes. I wonder if the SEN lounge attendant at MUC will allow access by showing a boarding pass with *G status or if they will insist on seeing an unexpired physical card

Decided to book the 2.5 hour connection at MUC to play it safe.

my experiences with Lufthansa (last two months): if the MCT is short
and you arrive late, three times there was an agent that drove to the
connecting leg. In fact once they got there ahead of the first local gate bus.
You clear immigration at first EU port of entry (hopefully less folks
so the non-EU lines are short or lots of all passport holders),
then if you connect, when you pick up luggage you go through customs
with red/green lines for something/nothing to declare.
Decidedly civilized.

Hi,
I did not want to open up a new thread for this and this is somehow related to connection times so I am just going to post it here.
Situation: Flight arriving from HAM at 9:40 and there's a train to be caught at the Airport Train Station at 10:04
Is this doable?

It is also very likely that your flight will get a apron position.
It might work but I would not bet on it.

I am somewhat confused by MUC's listing of "Levels". I am arriving on TK from IST, connecting to PHL on US. Both list T-2 as arrival/departure areas. Are these areas close? Will I need to clear additional security at the departure gate? Are there bars/restaurants in this area? Thanks for any help... (my connection is 2 hrs, so I think that is fine)

Trip Report
MUC T2 has gates on two main levels/floors (actually four but let's concentrate on the two main ones). They are marked Level G / 4 and Level 5 / H on airport maps. Level 5/H is for non-Schengen flights and both IST and PHL flights will arrive and depart on this level. In fact your arrival might be one level up on Level I and you will have to clear security to go down to Level H for your departure gate. There is no need to clear passport control. There are bars and restaurants on this level.

Sorry to piggyback but not sure of a better thread.
United says to allot 3 hours for international departures, but Munich airport seems a bit smaller than others. When should I aim to check-in my bag for a 12:20 pm flight to the US on United this Sunday? Arrive say 9:30?
Also, looks like PP Lounges are only in terminal one, while my flight leaves from terminal 2, right?

United closes their luggage acceptance 60 min before departure. That is your only dealine. Security is done in max 10-15 min. United departs from T2 which has no pp lounge available, but plenty of inexpensive options.

T2 to T1 on separate tickets
Arriving on LH from DME to T2, next flight is in 90 minutes from T1 on AA, booked as separate tickets. Few questions:
- Does anyone have experience whether DME flights on LH arrive at bus gate or jet bridge?
- Would you recommend clearing immigration twice and walking from T2 to T1 or taking the shuttle that leaves every 20 minutes?
Will have hand luggage only, so no rechecking bags. Both flights are in J but I don't think it matters for immigration lines since there is no priority, only matters if we arrive at jet bridge so I can be one of the first people off the plane.

T1 to T2 schengen
As we are on a roll with T2 to T1 transfer, I will try to ask another question about the opposite transfer from T1 to T2 and all Schengen.
Arriving on Air Europa T1 and leaving on Air Dolomiti T2, all Schengen. Would you take a shuttle (is there Schengen shuttle or only non Schengen? What gates does Schengen shuttle leave from at T1 and what gates does it arrive at T2?) or walk between the terminals?
Is there additional security if one takes the Schengen shuttle from T1 to T2?
Thanks
