Danke to all

For the great advice posted here. Returned from 2 weeks in your country recently and enjoyed it immensely. Would have loved to stay longer, but at least now I know where to go back to next time.

Great food, great roads, and a lot of very nice people. Some of the most lovely architecture I've ever seen, and a deep devotion to history with fabulous museums.

I guess we Americans stand out pretty badly - as most of the time when I went into stores/restaurants people just started off speaking English. I know just enough German to be polite and take care of my basic needs - but it wasn't ever an issue.

Truly a wonderful experience!

I would have loved to have had a few more days in Munich - a few snafus with our travelling companions cut our time there a bit short. Could have spent a week (or more) there easily. My own fault because I always try to see too much.

Quite a difference between North and South, cuisine-wise. Again, it would have taken more than a week to totally experience Berlin, but I had to settle for 4 nights and 3 days.

The difference in driving habits was a pleasant surprise - no meatheads hanging out in the fast lane doing barely over the speed limit. Respect for the principle that there may be someone else on the road either more skilled (or in a bigger hurry). Even the people running at 150+ klicks moved right over once they finished passing. Respect for others on the road is unheard of here.

People polite and courteous to a level never seen here in the states.

And a true devotion to maintaining heritage. Saw lots of buildings that were devastated in WW2, painstakingly restored to where one wouldn't know anything had happened if it was not pointed out.

I could write volumes - but this will do for now.

Well, do not stress yourself re the language. For us the most important secondary language is english, for you it is spanish.

For all of us in the future it will be chinese.
