MGM M-life: some questions (redeem, benefits)

Hi! I'm confused about the M-life Players Club. I just saw it on topguest (where you can earn 500points for sharing your location).

I can see the benefits of a status (https://www.mlife.com/non-overview/t...-lasvegas.aspx), but some questions raised which I can't answer with google & forum search.

1. Can I redeem the credits? How? Is there a redeem chart? What are the benefits?

2. Hotel Benefits: What kind of room upgrades are possible? Maybe some example help.

3. How are the (non gambling) benefits in general? Worth the program or not? Just read in this forum that the Coffee Shop Line Pass is (was?) not really established.

4. What does Fine Dining Priority mean/include?

Thanks in advance & happy Thanksgiving

Best bet is to pick up a copy of the M life brochure next time you're in one of their properties. Info on-line is not great.

I don't know what "points" are. You get freeplay for machine play, you get comps for table games, and "tier credits" for both. Expect no amazing freebies unless you wager a lot. Tier credits allow you to advance to different colors of membership card - no amazing benefits there.

Only real tier benefit is access to some reasonable free room offers + freeplay. Oh yes - and you can skip the line in buffets.

Bottom line - are you prepared to wager at least $50 a hand several hours a day ? Or play through many $x00 per day on slots ? Otherwise, don't expect much.

Just a few comments to get some answers in this thread - I'm still an mlife Plat although I was chased off to Cosmo due to the mlife implementation (and the more-general slashing of comps following the disaster that is City Center). Needless to say I think mlife is an awful program and it's amazing to me that, nearly a year after program rollout, so many of the initial problems still exist. You can read some of my thoughts from the beginning of the program in this FT thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/gamin...questions.html (and many of my comments in that thread still apply.)

I don't play slots, but IIRC for slot play, each point can be redeemed for 2 cents of Express Comps per point. This should be somewhere on one of the mlife FAQ pages.

Also, be careful not to confuse tier credits and points. Tier credits are like elite qualifying miles on airlines - only for status level.

The official policy is a one-step upgrade. Given that most MGM properties distinguish between rooms in the same category with differing views (e.g., standard room but with a strip view), this will generally be a same-category "upgrade". I've read many reports of upgrades being denied altogether or of players being told that a "high floor" room constituted an upgrade. There are a few reports of upgrades to suites, although this often appears to be at the discretion of the FD and so perhaps should not be considered part of the mlife program.

Not very good IMO. As I've mentioned in past threads, most of the stated perks are a joke. Using the mlife card as a line pass has worked for me at the Bellagio buffet, but I've never tried it at the cafe. Not having to seek a host to get a buffet line pass is convenient, but certainly it's not what I'd term a real perk.

After logging in to mlife, there is a reservations search form that is supposed to give priority reservations. I wouldn't put much faith in it; I tried it once when there was limited availability through the public search and the "priority" search gave the exact same availability, and then when I called the restaurant directly they were happy to pencil me in for one of the "unavailable" times.

Non-Gaming Spend ... Clarifications?

Hi
So I typically travel to Las Vegas once, maybe twice per year, and while I don't gamble much, I book all the rooms including at least one expensive 2br suite and also pick up the tab for at least one or more VIP excursions to clubs in Bellagio, Aria, etc.

So...as such in planning my upcoming trip - I have received great news that I am mlife Gold, albeit I have no comps.

Couple questions if anyone knows ...

1. As I am at Gold (which takes 75,000 tier credits) ... will it only take another 125,000 actually accrued to make Plat?

2. How many tier credits do you get per $1 non-gaming spend? For sake of example, I'll be spending $3000 on hotel rooms in March at Aria. How many tier credits will that be?

3. Is there any way in the new program to gain comps from non-gaming spend?

Thanks!!

Yes. However, tier credits expire 12 month after they are earned, or possibly a few days/weeks thereafter, since they only purge them at the start of each month. So you'll need to earn 125,000 points before any of your current points expire.

There are quite a few well-written articles here http://sincitysnitch.com/comps/the-n...got-pricey.htm on the new Mlife program and what the cost of each point is now.

Whenever I go to Vegas I charge everything to the room, food, shows, whatever possible and through all related properties (in this case MGM). With Mlife, this has often meant that I was comped at least one dinner, last time it was Aureole, the time before was Tender. I'm not a huge gambler overall (my budget is about $75 per day) and my room had already been comped both times... so people who only throw a few dollars in some machines CAN get some perks.

I have not yet experienced the new Mlife, but will be heading to Vegas in January and will gladly report back my experience.

Oops, I thought this thread was a little "newer"

I was searching for threads on topguest and how mlife points don't seem to be posting to my account since the new program rolled out in october 2012. Sorry!
