Flight got canceled due to weather?
Dear Fellows,
Just a FYI, I booked my flight from SBA to OKC with one stop in Denver scheduled to take off at 6am in SBA. I checked my email before I went to bed at mid-night and got this email from Frontier sent at 11pm stated that my flight at 6am had been canceled and rescheduled. They rescheduled me to the next available flight which is 2 days later. I called them back and said that's not acceptable because I have already made all my arrangement in OKC that day. I had to get in OKC on Oct 14th. They said they could not get me onto an earlier flight but the Saturday afternoon flight, more than 2 days later. So I finally accepted a full refund from Frontier and went on to search a new flight at 5am in the morning. Luckily enough I had found a flight that went to OKC at a reasonable price, it's expensive alright, but it's not too bad compare to other last minute deals. And this flight also stopped by Denver the same day that Frontier canceled theirs due to "weather". So I found it very hard to believe it's due to "weather" as they claimed. For whatever reason behind this, it will be our last time to even try to fly Frontier.

Your situation is unfortunate, but it happens on all airlines, and it happens more often with the current high load factors. And just because the weather was good in Denver, does not mean that the weather was good in the city where the plane scheduled for your flight came from before Denver.

Here's the latest list I've seen for domestic carriers:
Alaska
American
Cape Air
Continental
ERA
Great Lakes
Hawaiian
United
USAirways
The obvious mainline carrier omission is Delta, plus some of the LCC's like AirTran, JetBlue, Spirit, and Southwest. WN doesn't interline, and I'm not sure about JetBlue or Spirit.

It looks like that aircraft comes in from Denver the night before, spends the evening on the ground, then leaves the next morning. So any weather in either Denver or Santa Barbara the previous evening could have resulted in the flight's cancellation would have also canceled the return leg.

the story
Here is the story we heard, the flight came into SBA had found some problems and it could not be fixed before the departure time. They canceled it out completely and put me onto a 2 days later flight. They blamed it on the weather so they do not have to compensate extra to us except for refunding us the tickets. I did request for flying out from other airport such as LAX or Orange County. They said they could waive the reschedule fee but we will have to pay the difference of the tickets which is like 400 per ticket. Frontier is not the only one that has that price, UA also did. I will definitely chose UA next time.

Looks like UA canceled their flight that departs at the same time as the Frontier flight on the 14th. Not sure about the Frontier flight, but the United flight was diverted to Palm Springs when scheduled to arrive into SBA the night before. It seems logical that the Frontier flight was diverted or canceled the night before as well.
Edit: Just found it, the Frontier aircraft diverted back to Denver.

That's terrible that they wouldn't allow you to change departure airports at no charge. I've done that on AA. Driving to another airport instead of SBA because of a weather-related cancellation isn't exactly a "voluntary" ticket change.

weather vs two days later
Okay, it looks like it was due to weather for the cancellation. Fine, but rebooked me to a 2 days later flight and would not reschedule me to another airport at no charge? Give me a break. Yeah, SBA is a small airport, it made things more difficult. I think from now on I will not fly out from SBA as much. Any suggestions, guys? Which airport should be an alternative? LAX?
