Lost Seat Assignments

Anyone ever lose their seat assignment?
In late August, I booked 2 seats for Christmas travel (specifically a window and aisle since we have an infant), but logged in yesterday to see “Check-in Required” in place of our seats. Unfortunately, I didn’t print our itinerary showing the seats, I only printed the e-ticket receipt. I remember commenting to my wife about not being able to get anything better than a row in the mid-teens. I’m not ruling out human error, there’s always the chance I selected the seats, but failed to confirm them. Who knows? If I remember correctly, Sabre retains all history of a current record which would show seats and if/when they were assigned/deleted.
I called F9 today and was given two seats together, but they wouldn’t give me window/aisle with an open middle for our daughter. I assume the plane is full at this point.
Any thoughts?

Frontier has changed my seat assignments many times.

I've had my seat assignment changed more than once. And, it's never been changed to a better seat. On a recent trip from Denver to Mpls, my seat assignment on both flights was changed from 4D to a window seat. I'm a Summit member, and on the flight from Mpls to Denver, there was only one other Summit member (and no Ascent members flying). When I said something to the agent at the Ticket Counter in Minneapolis, she replied that seat assignments are not guaranteed and that they can basically do anything that they want. I have also been moved from an aisle seat to a middle seat (by a flight attendent). Overall, I love Frontier, but they don't always show that they appreciate their frequent fliers.

F9 emailed me today and said history shows no prior assignments. I find it hard to believe I selected seats and didn't confirm them. Whatever the case, I now pity the person sharing the row with us. Hi, meet our can't-sit-still 20 month old and be sure to thank Frontier for allowing us to entertain you for 2.5 hrs.

I'm failing to understand this. You're travelling during the holidays, which means the flights are going to be full. Aside from the issue of not getting your AC/DF seating (open B or E seat), what makes you think that the middle seat would stay open? If taken, then are you going to keep a stranger in between the both of you? If not, then you're in the same position as you are right now. And if you really wanted that open middle seat, why not buy the seat for your 20 month old, which you will have to do anyways in 4 months. This is not intended to be rude, just understanding where you're coming from.

My primary concern was that I strongly believed I booked specific seats 4 mos ago, and then lost them. As a consumer (and airplanegeek), my greatest joy from booking tickets online is choosing seats from a seat map.

I booked (or not) A/C seats in hopes of B staying vacant. No guarantees, but why not try? Worse case scenario, someone arrives to sit in B and ends up in A or C. Win for him/her, loss for us. Yes, the cure-all is to purchase a seat, which we'll obviously start doing in 4 mos. It was good while it lasted.

Red face the fine art of seat assignments...

Seat assignments have been discussed online here (not necessarily on the F9 board but others) ad infinitum. I won't even go into the discussion. Just a couple of comments tho...had you selected AC in the last row of the a/c, you have a better chance of keeping those seats. And, provided the a/c is not full, the middle seat may have remained open.

However, keep in mind if the flight is full, all of the seats in the back usually get filled before some of the seats upfront which are held for ato checkin. Some people who just want to get to their destination (including non-revs) will take any available seat...middle, non-reclining and last row even.

Since you are a connoisseur of seats, it's a judgement call to seeking out that last row. The further forward you request an AC or DF seats, the more likely those middle seats will fill up because those unfortunate souls left with middle seats tend to request far forward as opposed to being stuck in the back of the a/c.

This happens all the time on this airline!!....Welcome to Frontier! Seat assignments are a joke on F9 and the day- of-flight musical chairs is truly something to behold. Cute animals on the tail and in-flight TV can only last so long. Perhaps they will join the 21st century and enable on-line award reservations.... without seat assignments no doubt!
