I'm sure they can just look in a binder from yesteryear named "Can the CAN-route" .

AY 825/826 (ARN) starts tomorrow (15AUG22) and for few weeks it is AY operated and from 01SEP22 back to Norra.
I dont remember if AY ever operated this overnight service itself?

How does this flight work from a crew perspective? Does crew doze off for a few hours at a hotel in ARN?
When Air Berlin flew to HEL, they rotated the crews so that the crew from the last night-arrival did not fly out on the early morning service, but later in the day. Of course they need double the number of hotel rooms for that.

Could they maybe use the long haul crews here? I know that at least some crew for ARN long hauls is deadheading from HEL, seen them boarding HEL-ARN in uniforms but sitting among pax.

OK, but they use their HKG based crew as well or are they mostly laid off and just taken another job at a new company?
The outsourcing would explain why they also have some really incompetent, boarderline rude Finnish crew members on the ARN flights..laid off from the permanent AY staff and re-hired by an external company..

The newly hired contract staff, on the other hand, are awful. At least those with whom I interacted. Lazy and/or rude.

Exactly my experience as well. The HKG crew are very good, one of them even came to chat with me at a gate in HEL some 7-8 days after he had seen me on ARN-JFK, remembered my ancient Rimowa, as he said..🤡

Seems to be zeroed out on Aurinkmatkat as well. People still don't have the guts to fly to Thailand? Somehow I understand this – their ever-changing and over-scaled restrictions don't exactly scream "welcome" to the average fanny-pack tourist.
Edit: HKT is still for sale.

The strange thing is that Aurinkomatkat is being extremely cautious for whatever reason. They don't have any westbound longhaul destinations planned for next winter. No Cuba, no Mexico, no DR. Therefore, AY doesn't fly to those places, either, which is a pity.
