Yes, they opened a new area with new machines... but not "totally new" as I went through those machines at least in August if not even earlier. The old machines are still in use going the other way (to NoSe).

The confusion might come from the fact this is the second time a quite ordinary thread from AY forum has been mysteriously featured on the frontpage "Must read" section...

Except for Ffay005 There was no queue to the EU citizen desk, but the guy really took his time, browsing through my passport at least twice and machine-reading my Mauritanian visa etc. After his very thorough check he just wished me a good flight. And now I wonder what red flag list Im on...

Sounds odd to me

Were you actually going to Mauritania or was he scanning the visa to put you on some government watchlist?

For me (finnish citizen) the officer scanned my passport and typed something for thirty seconds...

Which flight you're on? I'm out tonight on AY143 (after midnight departure)

(PS - My previous passport was full of Arabic stamps, never got a raised eyebrow. Now my travel patterns are different, haven't been in the region for years)

The automated gates from Schengen to non-Schengen are closed at the moment. Expect queues. I was there during the time when the airport is stranded and still there were queues forming, especially on the EU citizen side. I actually jumped to the non-EU side for faster service. They are replacing the old machines with the new ones, to those that are already used from non-Schengen to Schengen. I still feel that the new readers are unreliable, slow and difficult to use, especially regarding how to insert the passport in the correct angle.

On the improvement side, I have recently noticed that the corridor that goes pass the non-Schengen tax free shop (the one that passes the Almost At Home Lounge) has been open. Nice to be able to skip the tax free jungle, I hope that this is a permanent change.
